Day 2 (December 7, 2003)

I think that we all slept straight through, and the 6:15 am wake up call came in no time. Buzz and Mom showered, while I packed up our stuff for the day. Traveling with 3 people, it was nice to have the double sink area separate from the bathroom. We were at the bus stop by 7:15 am to head to the Magic Kingdom for Early Entry.

A bus pulled up in 2 minutes, and we were at the MK by 7:30 am. We used the time to walk around and look at and take video of some of the Mickey statues that were on display for Mickey’s 75th Anniversary. We entered the park at 8:00 am and leisurely strolled down Main Street towards the castle. I thought the Christmas decorations were very nice and made Main Street even more beautiful than usual.

We checked in and were seated right away for our 8:05 PS at Cinderella’s Royal Table. The only thing that my Mom requested to do on the trip was have breakfast with the princesses. Luckily I was able to secure a PS my first day calling. The princesses at our meal were Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Pocahontas, and Belle. Breakfast was very nice. The total cost plus tip was $72.

After breakfast, crowds were still light, so we decided to do the Fantasyland attractions first. We did Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, It’s a Small World, Snow White, Carousel and the Tea Cups (all walk-ons). We also did Mickey’s Philharmagic for the first time. We all agreed that this attraction was excellent. It is extremely well done, and suitable for all ages. This is a great addition to the Magic Kingdom.

We had pretty much finished Fantasyland by this point, so we headed over to the Haunted Mansion and rode with no wait. We then shot guns at the Frontierland Shooting Arcade before seeing the Country Bears Christmas show. Buzz and I hadn’t liked the regular Country Bears show, but the Christmas version was quite enjoyable. Crowds had started to build, but the lines were quite short. Since we were soon ready to head back to the resort, we decided to ride Splash Mountain (no wait). We didn’t end up getting too wet and Mom really enjoyed the ride. Since we didn’t plan on being back in the Magic Kingdom during the daytime, we walked through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse on the way out.

On our way out, we saw that they were finishing taping of the Christmas Day parade. Regis and Kelly were stationed outside of Casey’s Corner. The Cast Members hustled everyone by, but I was able to snap a few pictures. We headed to the bus stop and waited about 15 minutes for a bus back to the AKL. When we arrived back at the resort, our room had been cleaned and the mousekeeper had left quite a few towel animals. We grabbed our mugs and headed down to the Mara for lunch. I had a cheese pizza, Buzz had a sausage pizza and Mom had a cheese burger. The total came to $18.50.

After lunch we headed back to the room to relax and animal watch. We were ready to go around 3 pm. We waited about 2 minutes for a bus to MGM. We were at MGM in no time and headed to the Tower of Terror. My Mom likes most thrill rides, but she was really nervous about the ToT. We had to wait about 15 minutes before our ride. Mom liked the ride and said it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.

We were just in time to see the 4:15 Beauty and the Beast. After the show we used the Fast Pass that we had gotten earlier for Rock’n Rollercoaster (10 minutes). We then headed over to Star Tours and waited about 5 minutes before our ride. It was soon time to head into the Fantasmic! Theater so we walked through some shops before grabbing some soft pretzels and heading in. The theater was about ½ full at this point, and we found some seats towards the back. The theater filled to capacity by 6:15 pm and we all participated in the wave for about 10 minutes.

The show was enjoyable as always, and Mom was really impressed. She was starting to finally understand why I enjoyed coming to Disney. Even if you don’t like rides, the entertainment is truly top notch. We were able to exit the theater rather quickly and walked right onto a waiting bus. We were back at the resort in a few minutes and checked in around 8:15 pm for our 8 pm PS at Boma’s. We were seated around 8:30 pm. The three of us aren’t the most adventurous eaters, though Buzz and I did have a nice meal at Boma’s in July. The meal was ok, but none of us were really in the mood to try different things. I did enjoy the awesome dessert selection though!

When we got back to the room, Mom was ready to turn in after a very busy day. Buzz and I decided to use the hot tubs. We had the hot tub to ourselves for most of the time and it was very nice and peaceful. Buzz was warm after being in the hot tub so we jumped in the pool for a quick dip. It was only about 50 degrees out, so we didn’t stay in for longer than a minute. We headed back to the room, and were in bed by 11 pm.

Stay tuned for Day 3 and our day in Epcot.
