Buzz’s Challenge: How to make the FIFA World Cup a fun and educational experience for non soccer fans. I know many on this board are not the biggest soccer fans and that’s fine. This thread is not about the sport. This thread is about ways to turn the event into something everyone can enjoy in your house. My family enjoys watching the games but also learning about the countries in the tournament. So here’s Buzz’s suggestion to just enjoying the event itself. During the match days, look at what teams are scheduled to play. Pick a country of the day to learn about. Do some quick research on the selected country (such as geography, history, culture, and food) and then discuss some of the interesting facts you learned at dinner. To make the educational experience even more impactful, you could make an easy small dish recipe or a meal if you wanted from the discussed country’s region. The World Cup is more than a sports tournament, it’s the tournament that brings the world together more than the Olympics. The more we learn about each other, the more we understand about each other, the more peace will be achieved in the world. Please leave a comment about what you think about the idea. I would love to hear your thoughts. Happy learning and/or eating.
