Sorry, one more question which I couldn't find the answer to!

If I buy points for VB through a resale as my first DVC purchase, do they work just the same as if I bought points for any of the onsite resorts? ie can I use my points just the same to book onsite?

Hope that makes sense!

The points have the same value. The difference is that you can start reserving at your home resort 11 months in advance, but only 7 months in advance at non-home resorts. Also, in the unlikely event that DVD sells off Vero Beach, the points would no longer be usable at other DVC resorts. Both of these points should be taken into account if you do not intend to stay at Vero Beach.

Thanks! and I guess the higher maintenance fees at VB would also be a consideration.

Thanks as always for those speedy responses!!

I own at Vero and am glad we bought there. We enjoy going to a beach resort every other year and doing Disney the other years. We have never had a problem getting the room or resort we wanted at 7 months out, even at Thanksgiving and Spring break time, the busiest of the year.

I think it has been mentioned many times here and then verified by Disney, that they have no plans on selling this resort.

Just know that the prices may be a bit lower but the dues are higher.

This is just my opinion but, I wouldn't buy Vero if I never, never planned to stay there. :) Like others have said, the dues are higher and you won't have an 11 mos booking advantage at an on-site resort. If you bought say a OKW resale, you could book OKW at 11 mos and if you wanted, at 7 mos, try to switch to another onsite DVC resort. I don't think OKW is too much higher than a Vero resale, especialy when you look at the dues. Plus, it's onsite. :)

Added to the above information, OKW has the second lowest dues (after SSR).

Well, that tells me then to go after an OKW resale, just as I was planning to do!

:)

Excellent choice. You might save something like 5% on the buy-in price going with Vero but, as you know, the real expense in owning a timeshare is the maintnence and you'd be paying around 20% more per year compared to OKW.
