Buying US hair styling products

Does anyone have an idea how I can buy a hair dryer and straighteners from the UK with US three point pin plugs on them? I can't find anywhere on US sites that will ship to the UK.... Mine won't work for some reason when we travel they don't heat up properly. Thanks

Last time I was there I picked up a pair of straightens at Walmart for $14 and they are great!

You can buy a travel adapter and electrical hair products in the UK which are dual voltage for example GHD MK4 onwards will heat up fine abroad, but previous models won't because they only have one voltage which doesn't work in the us.

I bought some ceramic hair straighteners for £15 from argos a few years back and they work great, and I just use the in room hair dryer at the hotel

I still haven't succeeded there!! But I've just used the low power hotel ones the last few years

Quick look on Google shows loads of 1200-2000w travel wordlwide voltage hair dryers - personally I like a full size one that's really powerful though so I'm not sure the mini ones would be that good?

No that's my problem. I've worked out US Amazon will ship to UK and I assume they are US products, but postage and import duty makes it somewhat expensive.

I suppose in theory you could just ship it to your hotel

Yep. Or you could pick one up when you get there. I bought one from Walmart a few years ago, I think it was around $25 and it's pretty decent.

Semi related but i was wondering if anyone ever brough a multi plug extension lead with you as there are usually several items needing charging and not enough sockets to plug them in. Do they work ok power wise if you have brought them from the UK?

Yes they do I've taken mine to Portugal, New York and orlando this year and it's worked perfectly, can't believe I didn't start using one sooner!

I only got the idea this year after reading someone elses trip report but was wondering if the power going through them would be enough to charge everything.

You could pick them up when you arrive from a supermarket, I had my hair straighteners and dryer from walmart many years ago and they still work just fine. (think I poid around $10 each for them) If your staying at Disney get them shipped direct to the hotel.

I have a dual voltage travel dryer which actually is more powerful than my hair dryer at home.
