We are looking into getting a DDE card this year (we had one a few years ago.) and saw on line that we can buy it at guest services. We are going to buy our AP's at guest services (with DVC discount) so we thought we would just get it then.

Has anyone done this? Any problems with it? I would rather just wait, but don't want to get caught and have to go with out.

Thanks!

We bought our DDE card at the guest services window at Int'l Gateway. Its my understanding that they can be purchased at any guest relations at the parks. I was expecting like a nice plastic card, but its just a cardstock like the regular tickets, and on top of that its $20 to replace if you lose it! Better make sure this thing doesnt go through the wash like my AP has done many times before:)

Got mine at the Guest Services at DTD at 11:30 PM!!! We love it!!!

DDE...that's the dining plan, right? I thought you could only buy it if you purchased a package...am I wrong? We booked a room and purchased tickets with a AAA discount and did it through a travel agent. I was told we could not buy the dining plan because it was not a package. Please let me know if I am wrong!!!

DDE is the Disney Dining Experience card that gives you a 20% discount at several Disney restaurants. It is available to Annual Passholders and Florida Residents.

The Dining Plan is something different. There are many posts about the Dining Plan and the changes for this year.

Hope this helps!

DDE is the Disney Dining Experience that is available only to annual pass and florida resident pass holders. The DDP is the Disney Dining Plan available to others that book through a package.

Correct, I am asking about buying the DDE with my AP instead of the dinning plan. I am not happy with the recent Dinning plan changes so we are going to enjoy the freedom of not having to worry about our dinning credits.

A friend and her family are coming with us so, we will have a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) so it should work out well for us.

So glad to hear that people have bought it when they did their AP with no problems. One less thing to worry about (and pay for ahead of time.)

I got my DDE card in November. It is a nice plastic card, like a credit card.

We did exactly this two weeks ago. Bought our AP's (with DVC discount) at he MK guest services window. Immediately after purchasing the AP's, we bought a DDE card. Had no problems at all. The CM at guest services knew exactly what to do and took care of things quickly.

I'm also interested in how much it costs and does it cover the entire party?

Thank you,

Debbie

The Disney Dining Experience is $60 plus tax with your Annual Pass. It covers the passholder and up to 9 guests (does not matter what kind of passes they have). It gives you 20% off your food AND bar bills at select locations. You will be given a complete list of all of the participating restaurants when you purchase your card. (Which is pretty much everywhere, even some counter service sites.) Keep in mind, there is now an automatic 18% gratuity added to all table service bills regardless of party size when using the DDE. There is a $20 charge to replace the card, as someone else mentioned.

My husband and I purchased our Annual Passes and our DDE card at the same time at Guest Relations outside of the Magic Kingdom. It was a quick and easy process.

Not the OP but my DDE card is also plastic (like a credit card). I ordered it over the phone just a few days before we arrived, picked up my temporary card at GS at Epcot, then received the plastic card in the mail a couple of weeks after we returned home. My present card was bought in May of last year so I don't know if they have now changed over totally to the Tyvek type cards or not.

Did you order it ahead of time, or get it from guest services?

My card, bought two weeks ago at MK Guest Services, is the Tyvek type card just like the annual passes.
