Buying stateroom gifts in advance?

Hey y'all,
I'm looking at buying a couple stateroom gifts for our upcoming cruise in January. A room decor package and a cupcake, both as surprises. How far in advance would you recommend buying these? Do they sell out, or is it okay to wait until a month or two before the cruise date?

Also, how are refunds of these handled should the cruise be cancelled?

Thanks in advance!
I just paid the remaining balance so I'm super excited to begin planning activities. :hyper:

If you're sure you want them, I'd say buy them now. If the cruise is cancelled, the money would be refunded.

The specialty themed decor packages (eg Halloween or Merrytime) do sometimes sell our but I’ve never heard of the regular ones selling out.
I did get promptly refunded for my rainforest pass and water pack purchases on our cruise in May this year when it was cancelled, so I wouldn’t worry about booking now and getting refunded later

I had no issues receiving refunds for all the items I had preordered for the Hawaii cruise that got cancelled- one quick phone call and I had my funds back!
If your sure you want it - order it! It’s Disney stuff sells quick sometimes for no apparent reason - get it while you can!
Enjoy your Cruise!!!

I'd order as soon as possible since things sell out sooner than you might think. With that said, our first cruise sailed on Easter Sunday and we dithered for so long about what to do about the Young MacSpiffs' Easter baskets, that by the time we decided it would make more sense to have something waiting on the ship nothing Easter-related was showing as available anymore. I called DCL to see if they could help, and sure enough, they could... complete with a little gift card signed by the Easter Bunny. 522240

I know if DCL cancels a cruise you get a refund on stateroom gifts. But, what about if you decide to cancel the cruise yourself?

Historically those have been refunded. It would be a really bad look to not do so, unless you canceled less than a week out...then arrangements might not be able to be reversed and DCL would have a cost associated with you canceling.
