Buying SoCal Ticket for a SoCal Resident as a non-SoCal resident

Ok so potentially kind of a unique situation. My niece lives in SoCal and I want to buy her a SoCal 3 day ticket as a Christmas present so she can come with my daughter and I in the spring to Disneyland but I am not a SoCal resident. I can get all the way to the payment screen including signing into my account and so far it looks like it will let me buy it but has anyone actually bought one as a non-SoCal resident? She is 3 so she won't have an ID to show proving she is a SoCal resident when we enter the parks but she is so there is no cheating going on there but I am worried because no on in the party will have a SoCal ID though she is validly a SoCal resident and if they asked her she would tell them she lived in Valencia. I have an annual pass and my daughter (also 3) will have a regular ticket. Thoughts?

You will be asked to show proof of her residency and since she's a child, she won't have that. Unfortunately, you will need to purchase her a regular ticket. The So Cal ones require proof at the gate.

Just wanted to come back here and give an update. I decided to go on the chat on the website and see how long the wait was to chat and it was very quick. The agent said it is fine for her to have the SoCal ticket but no ID/address verification. They said only adults in the party using a SoCal ticket would be asked for an ID and it was fine that she would be the only one with a SoCal ticket.

Yeah it is not so much the purchasing of the ticket I am worried about (my sister in law can purchase the ticket for me for her daughter no problem) but it is the not having an ID for the 3 year old that says she can use the ticket that I was worried about.

As long as the parent is there of the child that can show appropriate ID as a SoCal resident, you should be ok.

Yeah that is the issue/concern. It will be me (with a Magic key but not a SoCal resident), my 3 year old daughter (with a regular ticket) and my 3 year old niece (with a SoCal ticket) so no one will have a SoCal ID but my niece is a SoCal resident

That is a really good idea. She is in pre-school so that is perfect.

I am excited. I also have a 1 year old and my niece has a currently 2 month old sister (another niece for me!) so my husband is staying home with our 1 year old and my sister in law is staying home with her baby and I am taking the "big girls" on this little trip after spending a few days visiting the new baby too. We are telling them on Christmas and they are going to be so excited to go to Disneyland together. Being the big sister has it perks!

That sounds like such a nice trip. I would say to have the pre-school paperwork with you as a backup. I would like to think that maybe they won't give you trouble about why you are using a SoCal ticket for one child when you are standing there at the gate presenting an actual legitimate paid-for ticket for a 3-year old rather than smilingly presenting her as a free 2-year old. But Disney can be a real pain about ticketing and ID and so on now that they no longer allow rampant ticket abuse, so it's best to be prepared. I am curious if you yourself were actually able to purchase the ticket. I wanted to pay for my son's and his wife's SoCal magic key renewals as a gift. They are in Disney's system as current with their southern California address of the last 2 years. I can get all the way to the payment screen but when I put my own credit card in, the payment was rejected with the specific message that the credit card entered does not have a southern California zipcode. So I just had my son renew their passes himself, and I sent him the money. You already said you could always have your sister purchase the ticket if necessary and work out payment and ticket transfer into your app, so it sounds like you have already figured out contingencies; I was just asking this question to satisfy my own curiosity if you don't mind.

I was able to do it last night but I was not using a credit card. I was using a Disney gift card that I bought using my Red Card at Target to save the 5% since every little bit helps.
