I can't help it but when pasta is .59 a box I buy 12! Drives my DH nuts. The other items I stockpile are tuna and beans. You Budgeters know why I have to stockpile right?

Yes I understand but I try my best to control it. I would never buy 65 musturds but I do try to buy enough to last until the next sale. I did however buy the last 4, 4packs of clearance tape from Target for 90 cents. This was after buying 5 others previously. I guess I will not be running out soon.:rotfl2:

I have a huge pantry and I stock up on stuff when it is on sale. But my husband couldn't care less if I bought 12 boxes of pasta or 112 boxes of pasta as long as I have room to store it and am not encroaching on his personal space to stockpile pasta.

My main big pantry where I stockpile stuff, DH never even opens it and looks in there. He doesn't care. Why would it drive your husband nuts? Are you taking over his garage with your stockpile? If so I can maybe see why he would care. But otherwise why does it bother him?

It bothers him because he says we don't need that much. We have a large pantry to store it., he's not a fan of Costco either. But with raising a family I see the savings helps with the things we use.

Right I'm not buying 65 mustards but I can't see why 12 boxes of pasta makes DH nuts.
Me either? He should be happy you are saving money! That's not very much to have on hand, IMO. My husband gave me a high five when I came home with 14 lbs of ground beef bc it was marked half off.

If you show up early in the morning on certain mornings at Wal-Mart you can find their big 5 pounds packages of Hamburger meat marked down to $10. Last time I saw that I bought 4 of them. 20 pounds.

I don't think 12 boxes of pasta is unreasonable unless you only eat pasta a few times a year or something like that and will really never use it all. It doesn't spoil, and it won't really go bad unless you store it badly.

Wow!! I've never seen meat half off good deal!!

Sam'sClub marks down meat every morning. Not 50% but still a good deal. One of the advantages of having a business membership.

The best deals that I find are at Aldi. They usually do it in the evening. They don't do percent but a $ amount. The best deals are usually the smallers packages of fresh burger patties. They run about $4.25 for 1.5 lbs but then they put $2 off stickers on them. If we're not usinging tem as burgers, I just break it up for ground beef. Can't beat 80% beef fir less than $2 a pound!

Mr DH is a fan of stocking up on sales. He got me a vacuum sealer for Christmas a few years ago :)

Hey I do the same thing. Great minds think alike. Just don't forget to store them with the closest expiration date in front.

2 or 3 of an item, maybe, 12 no. We are getting ready to do a kitchen remodel and DW just cleaned out the pantry of all the forgotten and outdated by years boxes of uneaten stuffing mix, cereal, cans of tuna, pasta, soup, canned veggies. We gave up on stocking up years ago because too much got wasted.

I tend to do this, but then I realized this is all the overage in our grocery bills. Also when I was doing my destashing last year, most of it was food items we had too much of and wouldn't eat.

So now I have to limit all items to a max number. 8 tuna cans, 6 spaghetti...max out the numbers and then no more unless it's definitely going to food pantry.

If you have the room and it's reasonable. When we moved my aunt, there were groceries under the bed (including a caramel dip that had come open and spilled in the carpet), sugar in the entertainment center, peanut butter stored in the van for months (in hot and cold weather), canned goods that were past date- and you know those are usually good for years...

Our grocery store - Giant Eagle- often times has pork chops BOGO and I stock up.
I stock pile things like TP- I currently have 112 rolls, toothpaste, paper towels, toothbrushes, deodorants, shampoo. That way in the winter I really only have to get perishables. Who wants to have to lug a ton of groceries from the trunk to the house in the cold winter weather.

I think my husband would be worried if I came home with LESS than 12 boxes of pasta. I am a couponer and a stockpiler. I have to be sick to not scope out the good deals!!

Exactly. And you only spent like $6, not a fortune.

If I found pasta for 59 cents a box I'd probably buy 30 or more boxes. The cheapest I ever get it here is $1 a box and we use 1-2 boxes a week, so that's a four month supply for my family.

Not knowing what size and kind of pasta OP is talking about we are all guessing. I was the entire different direction, thinking that wasn't such much of a deal since the Dollar Store yesterday had 10 seven ounce boxes of a brand I have never heard of Macaroni and Cheese for $1.

I stockpile, and it saved us when my husband was off work for 11 weeks after getting a kidney transplant. However, i make a conscious effort to make sure we don't end up with outdated items that have to be thrown away. That's not saving me anything! Gotta be organized and rotate your stock. It was something that I really had to work at in the beginning, but it got easier the more I did it. Just like learning a new hobby or new job. Start small and work your way up.
