Hi everyone. My husband and I have been OKW owners since 2011, grandfathered in w/ blue card benefits. We are looking to add on a small 50-60 pt resale contract. Is it necessary for us both to be on the deed of the new contract? (He is on board, I am just the one more into it and he has no clue how to use our existing membership. For simplicity, I thought it might be easier if I did the new one myself). I'm thinking there is probably an issue combining the memberships if in different names though. Has anyone does this?

It would make more sense to title the new deed the same way as your existing deed, unless the UYs are different. Buying is a lot easier than selling. All your husband needs to do is sign the paperwork for the purchase. There's no need to go to a notary. This ensures that if something should happen to you, your husband is already on the deed and can assume full ownership without the need (and expense) of going thru probate in Florida.

If they're not titled exactly the same, they will be under a new separate membership.

If you are looking for simplicity, I would agree with previous posters that it’s going to be easier to just add his name, have him sign the paperwork, and then you control the membership. My wife and I have bought 2 contracts in the past year, I don’t think she even knows how to log on to our account. Even the signing of the paperwork is pretty minimal, so I would think once you get him to do that, it will be much easier to manage your account, rather than having to use two separate accounts. If you are buying a different UY, it doesn’t really have much of an impact anyway, but if you are buying the same UY, I would keep everything the same.

I’m way more into things than DH. I am not even sure he knows exactly what we own,

I just put the papers in front of him and say, sign, sign, sign! Lol. This way, it stays in the same membership.

^and this. If you're serious about this, you need to make sure you know how to make a reservation if you need to use points from two separate accounts. I haven't done it, so I don't know how it works.

My DH didn't know and still knows absolutely nothing about the logistics in any way, shape or form of any of our 5 contracts....2 resale, 3 direct. Doesn't even use a computer or Smart phone. Trusts me implicitly as the family Money Manager and always says "just tell me where to sign". Usually a blessing but sometimes annoying when I'm deciding investments and decision-making.

Agree with everyone else, have him sign so all your contracts (same UY) are under one membership. You'll appreciate it more as time goes by.
