Buying refillable mugs on ebay

Just wanted to say that we've never bought mugs (or brought bread bags) but I definitely will this year just to remind me of this thread!

About the stroller thing - we should set some kind of swap up where parents who are tired of their screaming kids can loan them to people without kids (like DH and I) so we can use them as battering rams to move people out of the way and to get the best seats at parades 5 minutes before they start! In fact, for one night, I'll swap anyone my Mara mug for their baby/toddler so I can get a good view of a parade/show without having to sit there all night.;) :p (You'll have to supply your own bleach for the mug.)

leighe; since I don't want to have to contend with a screaming kid and afraid that will be the one on "loan" most often but * really * like the battering ram... ur I mean stroller... idea.. as an alternate plan we can fill the bread bags with air, perch a little hat on top, tie them to the top of a refillable mug and cover most of it with a blanket and it might look enough like a kid to justify pushing around the battering ram..I mean stoller. personally i'll use the ones with organic matter residue so I can still have my AS/ POR/POP/YC/AKL/WL mug to use at the Poly.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before it is so simple..WDW has all those paper cups they hand out free with any drink purchase...all you have to do is paint the outside with Thompson's Water Seal and they should last at least a year or more if you are careful not to crush them.( I wrapped mine in tissue I took from the kleenex box I took from the room) there is nothing on the cups that says you have to get a new one for each vacation so that takes care of the refillable mug "good for only that visit" problem.also since the designs do not change as often you do not feel out of date like you can with the plastic ebay mugs from Dixie Landings.. if anyone knows of a non posionous water seal it probably would last even longer if you paint the inside too. that way by buying only 4 drinks a family of 4 can get all the drinks they want at any resorts for any number of vacations for the same price as 1 plastic refillable mug. I'm thinking this might make great economical gifts for the folks back home too since you would have to buy the drinks in the parks as I do not think they give refills in the parks. that way you could give them all an attractive set of tumblers anyone would love and since they could take them along if they have a future wdw trip planned what a nice savings for them!

When I went to ASMu, I saw this lady filling one brand new refillable mug, several old (and I mean decrepit-old) mugs, and a couple of thermos and water bottles.

Next time (hopefully sometime between October to December '04) I'll bring a couple empty barrels to be filled up and re-sell the content in the park for pure profit.

Hmmm, where can I find used barrels? eBay?

Speaking of paint........a good artist could repaint the gas station mugs with the resort insignia and make lots of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE the picture of Doris's husband and her almost choking on a fireball had me laughing for 5 minutes!

Seriously, we have got to get some pictures of people doing this and post them for entertainment value. I plan on taking my digital camera to the food court with me EVERY meal in hopes of a Wonder bread bag sighting or similar.

I say forget the mugs completely and just position your head under the soda fountain, then depress the lever until a stream of cola goodness quenches your thirst.

CMs are understanding, and will not interfere with your attempts to wet your pallet.

*sarcasm, of course* :earsboy: :earsboy:

cheapmom: just wondering if you could publish the dates of your next trip is so any who indulge can make sure to take a jacket on trips to the food court to pull over their heads (ala "arrested- criminal- element -on -the- news") unless of course you have the ability to put the little black slashes over the eyes in your pictures to protect their identity.

you may not be aware that if they are caught while in possession of illegal bread bags used in the act of commiting unlawful procurement of products produced
by Coca Cola, it carries a mandatory seizure of all wonder wrappers in the your possession as well as the seizure of all wonder wrappers in the possession of your immediate family members *and *a LIFE sentence that bars you or any in your immediate family from any subsequent purchases of wonder breads, buns and/or hostess twinkies . I for one would not want to be responsible for such a horrific outcome for a few cheap laughs.

er, not to get too close to the original mug topic or anything, but what about the waterpark mugs? they have bar codes on them, right? I thought they cost more, too- we always bring our own H2O so we won't overdo on the sugar-in-the-sun thing

OOMG!!!!!! My DH and I are dying laughing over the "bread bag" post!!!! He said he would laugh even harder if he saw the bag leak (or burst open!) as the person was walking away!!!!!! Oh, I can't stop laughing!! A BREAD BAG????? That is too funny!!! Wasn't she worried about anyone seeing her do this???? :hyper:

Oh good grief - I found Pop Century ones on eBay with this in the listing...........

If you purchase one, you are entitled to "FREE REFILLS" of soda, ice tea, lemonade, hot chocolate, tea, coffee and frozen slush drinks.

It's the first time I actually spotted some on there!!!!!!!

In reference to the "bread bag lady", I don't think I could have kept my mouth shut!! I would have had to say something!!! Now THAT'S CHEAP!!!

I don't, however, have a problem with bringing my mugs back on future trips to Disney. My hubby and I have four daughters, to buy six NEW mugs every stay would cost a fortune!!!

We bought Dixie Landings mugs in 2000 and reused them again in 2002 after the resort had it's name changed to POR!! CM's never said a word. So, we have a set of Dixie Landings/POR mugs and All-Star mugs (for our Pop Warner Nat'l Cheer adventures). With six in our family, don't worry "Disney police", WDW makes plenty of money off of us. (Well worth EVERY penny I might add!!) :bounce: :jumping1:

This is from an auction for CS mugs - They even give a helpful hint to resell them again! So those mugs you buy from Ebay could have been perverted and abused more than once!! LOL!

"We just returned from a fabulous vacation at Disney Coronado Springs resort and brought back the two refillable cups that we purchased for $11.99 at the resort. These cups can be filled over and over again for the duration of your stay with soda, coffee, or tea at the Maya Grill and Pepper Market restaurants at the hotel as well as at the pool concession area. Why pay resort prices when you can get them here!! You could even sell them again on E Bay when you return!"

Except it wasn't up to me..it was up to the owners (Disney). I don't want to ruin my vacation by having a confrontation, that really, other than being amusing, is none of my business.

Doris--I assumed the bread bag post was a joke. The only purpose for filling a bag with liquid is to throw at someone or something. If the kids were young I might ask them were there parents were otherwise I'd say something to the nearest CM.

disneyfreakjackie The mugs are good for the length of your current stay in that resort. Disney isn't currently enforcing the rules. Basically it's free soda for all BUT There isn't any difference between using a 7-11 mug, paper cup or old mug. What you're paying for your vacation doesn't matter.

No, it was not a joke. Someone actually use the bread bag. But as sad as that is, I still am there to vacation, and not to police. I may laugh with my fmaily when I see what people are filling (I personally have no problem at all with people reusing mugs bought at Disney, when people were told to bring them back..again, it's not my job to police), but it's up to Disney and the CM's to decide what to enforce.

Not to take away from the humor and add to the controversy, but having stayed at the Polynesian recently and purchased a mug, I had to ask the question with this thread in mind. Now, I would have bought the mug anyway, cause it's cute and it was useful to have by the pool etc, but I said to the CM:

Now, when we come back on future trips, can we bring this mug back or do we need to purchase a new one on our next stay?

Response: Oh no, you can use this one over again, just don't forget to pack it.

Also, looked in vain for signs to the contrary and there were none.

Now, I don't think I will ever stay at the Poly again (this stay was on someone else's budget) so I won't be using them again anyway.

:hyper: Hey, maybe I should list them on ebay!! :earseek:

My initial reaction to cheapmom is wow I found someone as cheap as me!

I guess the answer here is yes it is possible but it is frowned upon by Dis members? I have been thinking about not buying them at all because I don't drink very much. I usually want water at the parks.
