Hi! I am planning a trip in August  and I want to send postcards to my class from last year, and my new class. :teacher: I have a friend who will be visiting the world before I do, so I thought I would get a head start on writing out 55 cards by having her bring them home. I know they come in packs (10?) but have no idea how much they cost. Can anyone help me out? I want to give the money for them to my friend before she leaves. Thanks!

Amazon sells a book of Pixar movie postcards, and sells Disney ones - that might be a less expensive route? What a nice idea - sadly, no teacher I've ever met has ever gone above and beyond like that.

I agree with looking at amazon first. I honestly do not recall how much they go for. My kids would love to get something like that from a teacher ( or anyone for that matter). You sound like an awesome teacher:thumbsup2

I would try calling Guest Services Mail Order (more info here:
http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm )
and seeing if they could ship you some cards early. That's a TON of cards to write out!!!!

I'm guessing you're gonna be spending around $100 for 55 cards, including postage.

HTH!!!

Have you thought about printing them out yourself on some cardstock?
You can find some really cute Disney clipart and print a bunch. It would be alot cheaper than buying them but the kids would still think they were cute.
Then all you would have to do is stamp them and mail them from Disney.
Mail will not have a Disney World stamp on them, they get sent to the post office and will have an Orlando postmark.

While getting a note or card from a new or past teacher, seems nice, I have to wonder about getting a postcard from Disney for these kids?

Are you in an upscale area, because I am not sure how parents of kids with limited resources would feel about this. :confused3 Maybe I am looking at this sideways, I don't know.

Again, mailing them a note or card, is a lovely idea, I am not questioning that at all. Very sweet. I just don't understand the Disney element.

If your friend has access to a car, tell her to go to one of the area Wal-Marts. I bought several post cards at one of them in November and sent one to each of my students. The kids LOVED getting mail. The cards were less than 50 cents each, and it made for a fun discussion when I got back home.

Hope you enjoy your trip and I can tell you that ALL children love getting mail from their teachers, especially when their teachers are on vacation. It makes them feel special to know they are being thought of.

I have to agree. Sweet idea but maybe not telling everyone you went to Disney. DD got a birth annoucement for her teacher's baby once and that was nice. But a vacation???

I agree that it doesn't sound very professional to send students a postcard from your vacation. (Weird actually). A post card wishing last years students a great upcoming year and letting your new students know how excited you are for the upcoming year is a better idea. Why would they need to know you went on a vacation to Disney? Is there a reason?

I totally agree, my daughter would have been thrilled to get a postcard from her teacher. Anyway, it doesn't sound like you were really looking for advice on whether or not you should send them.

Agreed. My DD brought home some WDW treats for her best friend one year and while the girl liked them, I also felt bad because they can't afford to vacation. The grandparents live in Canada so any time off is spent visiting them. I try to lay low about our vacations unless talking to other Disney addicts.

I think a general post card telling the kids you're hoping they're having a great summer, etc. is a wonderful idea though! :thumbsup2
