With all the trouble the airlines are having, how far in advance are you purchasing your tickets? Do you think it is better to wait till only a couple of months out? Or are you buying them 6 months ahead of time? Is it a real concern that one or more of the major airlines may have to declare bankrupcy in the near future? My trip isn't until October 2006 but I was wondering what others were thinking. :confused3

We usually begin pricing about 7 months out and hope for good rates. Southwest doesn't even put schedules up until 4 months out (they don't have April fares posted). You can also "gamble" and wait because most airlines have specials 2-3 months out. It really depends on when you are flying and how flexible you can be.
