Buying passes on Ebay

ITA with the "buyer beware" theory --- there are so many variables that could cause problems! As one poster mentioned, especially with the new ticket tag (finger scan), you'll never know if those tickets have been previously "connected" with someone else.

And we've experienced our tickets becoming demagnatized mid-trip -- I always keep some receipt/proof of purchase with me just in case.

As a former DS CM, I also know that "blank" tickets disappear and there is *no* way to tell how many days may be on a ticket until you get to WDW. Too risky for me!!

I'd never buy Disney Tix on Ebay nor do I sell them. 3 reasons.
1. There is no way to verify that there are indeed any days at all left on the tix until you get there.
2. Disney doesn't have to honor the tix. If there is a name on the ticket, Disney can indeed (though heretofore they haven't) ask for ID and if it doesn't match can confiscate the ticket.
3. The price actually sometimes goes above the market price of a new ticket from a legit ticket broker

See, what I don't get, is people buy tickets all the time from places like Ticketmania....Is there a difference? :confused3

There is a huge difference. Ticketmania is an AUTHORIZED reseller. People on ebay are not.

You have to ask yourself, where is this guy getting all those partially used tickets to resell on ebay?

I agree, there are honest sellers on ebay, I'm one of them. And I won't sell those tickets!

i really hope you're right, jovidan, and my tickets are found to be legitimate. i should hear back from my mom's friend in 3-4 days.

As for it being illegal, I don't think that's correct. He sells the tickets below face value, which is completely legal.

It is illegal to sell partially used passes in the state of FL, regardless of how much you sell them for. Authorized resellers can sell unused passes. NO ONE can sell used passes, because it not only is against FL state law but it also breaks the contract you have with Disney when purchasing/using admission media.

BTW, I find it odd that you gave the name of a specific seller "your friend" used and know so much about him...normally people don't give such detailed, passionate testimonials nor do the research into a company/seller that only "your friend" used...

In reply the the person who bought ebay tickets. If they have never been scanned you will be fine. Also older tickets with no name you could just show them your ID and NOT scan ur fingers as they have to give you that option. You just need to know if the person who used them ever did a finger scan.

I have watched ebay on several occassions including the last week and I just cant believe the prices people pay for tickets. It make no sense? And now with finger scan in its no go. You can buy tickets at the gate for about the same price and if you buy from Disney online or from AAA which now routes you to disney with a discount you can get even cheaper prices per day than the old way. 7 day with NE and PH is the way to go. Though AAA i think its around 35.00 a day! I bought a old style 5 day pass just before MYW kicked in thinking they would be higher. I am considering trading them in when i get there in November for a 7 day MYW, you think I can do that?
