Buying park tickets separately from room?

I just saw an email through Mousesavers that part ticket prices are rising by 5-8%.

Is it better to purchase tickets separately from rooms, or do you lose good room discounts (which seem to include park passes) if you have already gotten tickets before you book the room? We definitely plan to stay on-site but want to get the best deal we can, of course.

Any advice about this is appreciated. I've visited Disney but not within the past 10 years, and things have really changed!

You can get a room only discount whether you have tickets or not. So if you know that you will be traveling to Disney and want to buy tickets before the price increase, then go ahead and buy them now. Then if a room discount is released later, you can get the discounted room.

But if you are hoping for a free dining discount, then don't buy tickets now. The free dining discounts always require a ticket purchase at the time of booking.

Thanks, Wood Nymph! So, then, the question becomes.... How likely is it that Disney will offer a FD code for early December? From what I read on this site, the FDs seem to come in September/October/November - and now there is some question about whether they will be offered in October. I know there are no guarantees... but any guesses?

I would guess that the chances of free dining in early December are zero but you never know. They have been offering free dining later in December but not early in the month.
