Buying Magic Bands

So now you can buy the regular magic bands, without linking them to a ticket... can you add the ticket later? IE if I wanted to decorate one, and give it to a friend for use in the parks, could she link it to her account when she gets there?

Her MagicBand and her ticket will need to be linked to her MDE account. She should do the linking as soon as she has both in her possession and she can schedule FP in advance of her trip.

Technically, she does not need to have (or link) a MagicBand to make FP+ reservations.
But, yes, she DOES need to buy a park ticket ASAP. (30 days before her first day in the park is the earliest she can book without a WDW resort stay, and the sooner, the better.)

She CAN wait to link up the MagicBand at any time... up to, and including, when she is at WDW... with no detriment to her FP+ situation.

Yes, you are correct as usual. I knew as soon as I submitted it that she didn't need her MB linked but the OP appeared to think she had to wait to link them at the park. Plus, I was watching a football game!

I didn't think that at all. I was asking if a purchased Magic band, bought by someone going to disney several months before the person getting the magic band, so that she can decorate it, could be linked after they get to disney. My friend is not staying onsite, and thusly will not get a magic band. She can make her fastpass selections at 30 days, per usual, I just was asking about purchased magic bands.

I didn't think that at all. You first asked about adding the ticket later and then asked about linking the MB at the park.

Either way, it is MDE where both are linked.
