Buying Into Boardwalk

I called DVC today to ask about BWV and It was my underdstanding that even with BWV sold out that you could always be put on a list to buy ( because of ROFR ),but I was incorrect it is only if you already own DVC. I was told by cm that I could only buy through resale even if they have the points they only sell them as add ons . This makes my work 1/2 as much now as I only need to look for right amount of points with U/Y I would like on the resale market.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone else with that misunderstanding looking to buy.

(EDIT) With the help of someone from these boards I have called and spoken with a guide who has stated he would be happy to sell me what I want. Thank you to everyone !!!

Not true, I just bought in as a new member at BCV about 2 weeks ago. Did this directly through DVC. Was on the waitlist for about a week (amazing I know). The CM you spoke with was misinformed.

We just purchased BWV in January. DVC/Disney can sell you a 150+ contract if you want. My guide said they have about 9000 points in the system for BWV. I'm sure it may be lower now but you can still buy in. To the OP that got into BCV a little while ago, congrats, I was told there was no way to get into there.

I bought in last year at BWV with 150 points. Call your guide and tell them that you want x points at x resort and if they will not sell them to you, then you will get a guide that will. You can use my guide, Michelle McAlister. She has been with DVC since the beginning and will steer you towards SSR, I am assuming, but she will sell you the points if you make it clear that is what you want.

You have to purchase a minimum of 150 points to buy directly from Disney. Were you asking about purchasing fewer than 150 points? Otherwise, lots of people have purchased BWV from them in the past year. I nearly did this last July. I ended up buying a resale contract instead but my guide was ready to sell me the BWV points I wanted.

I told him I was not a member yet but had decided I wanted to be , and I wanted BWV . I had asked about if I had to get my name on a list or something do so knowing that it was a sold out resort. ( I'm hoping to get things going and when my tax return comes in use that to buy ) At that point he asked me about buying SSR and told him I KNEW I wanted BWV even with the less years. He kept telling me more years would be best I siad no thank you BWV . He then said they only sell BWV as add ons to current owners. I thanked him and told him I would go resale he said Disney doesnt do resale and I told him I would go through TTS . I dont actually know what kind of cm he was (guide or what ) I called the 800 number on the disney dvc web site . I'm just trying to learn all I can before pre paying for 36 years of vacations

Oh, I'm so bummed now. We just bought at SSR in January...and I told them quite emphatically I wanted BWV - we had toured there years ago and didn't buy, that is the resort we REALLY love, and I knew that resort would be a hit with the whole family. We had to convince kids about SSR, and I'm still not 100% about it, but they said we absolutely couldn't get BWV as an initial purchase and we could ONLY buy SSR. Even as an add-on, the guy said we'd have a long wait to get points there. Said people wait years for that resort.

I had NO IDEA I could push that!!!! Wow...I'm very disappointed in the sales guy now. I had thought he was ok, but he totally "sold" me without giving me what I wanted.

I feel cheated. Ugh.

oh well...at least my husband bought something...I'll cheer myself up somehow.

You should be able to get BWV very easily. If you want to call my guide, PM me and I'll give you his name and number. He is excellent to work with. Helped me, my sister and a friend out and also did add ons for 2 of us.

I got Michelle MacAlister too, it was sort of a fluke (my original guide was on medical leave). I know that it did not benefit Michelle to sell me BCV but she did it with a smile in her voice. I knew what I wanted and I wasn't going to be happy with anything else, Michelle didn't try to hard sell me on SSR she said "I want you to be happy". And I certainly am. So for those of you shopping for a great guide Michelle is tops in my book.

As a side note, I would love to know why it is so important to the guides to sell SSR, do they not get a commission with SSR? Or a lesser one? Anyway, the points are available and I hope that we can spread the news that you sometimes have to push the issue with some guides.

As a side note Mrs. Potato Head, at least you have 12 more years to enjoy your DVC.

It really depends on the use year. I am waitlisted for June points. Two weeks ago there were none. A week earlier there were 210. Inventory varies from day to day. I believe you will need to deposit $500 to get on the list. At least I did and my guide's been there forever.

Our guide is Bernard Lebeaupin; we told him at the outset that we weren't buying SSR, and he found a BWV contract the same day (150 points). No problem. Yes he tried to sell us SSR initially but put that aside after a token effort as soon as we told him it was BWV or nothing.

If you have your heart set on BWV, I agree with the poster who said to tell the guide, if he won't sell you BWV you will find a guide that will. Then do it.

How do I get ahold of Michelle McAllister, I understand she is my guide??? We just bought in DL from our wonderful guide there, Neilda, and she gave us all our information and everything. She was wonderful. Well, I just got a little thank you note from Neilda, saying Michelle is my guide since she had sent me out a DVD last April 05 on DVC. So she will have to be my guide? I felt bad for Neilda, since she spent all the time on the phone, and answered all my questions and everything, and I don't even know Michelle???? But you say she is great? I would LIKE to know who my guide really is. I too had only wanted BC, but was told I couldn't buy it, only SSR, so I am very very confused here. I just sent off my papers last week. So, how do I find my real guide?????
