im off to florida next week and was thinking of buying an ipod video 30gb due to the great currency rate.will it be compatible for the uk?is it true that if i buy it from a walmart store i can return it to an asda store over here if i have any faults under the warranty?

I was in a queue in Walmart waiting to speak to CS and remember reading a sign saying they wouldn't take back Ipods that they had to go back to manufacturers.

Never found it worth the hassle of buying in Florida. When you add tax on to Walmarts prices its not that cheap.
I get the ipod video 30gb to £140 incl tax, is that what you found?
you could buy it here at £159.45 delivered, I would pay the extra for peace of mind, Or if you dont mind buying from ebay 2nd link sold today for £98 delivered, hundereds for sale on there.

i found it for $248.44 which works out at £125.84 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5273429

so it is alot cheaper but i see where your coming from so unless i can return it easily if there are any problems i would probably buy from the uk

just looked at the ebay seller and i wouldnt bet on the highest bidder getting there ipod.hes only been registered 2 months with 20 transactions.buying cheap dvds for a couple of quid.now suddenly hes quoted as being an electrical retailer selling ipods and lg chocolates???im always very wary of ebay

Yes its the same one I found but when you add tax on it works out at £140ish depending on Ex rate at the time of purchase (I worked on 1.90/£ may be slightly better depends how you pay for it)

i see i didnt realise tax was added i thought the price you see is the price you pay so not such a good bargain then

I also notice on the Walmart website it says price varies depending on store, so guess that covers the various rates of tax throughout the US.

Claire ;)

Whatever price you see in US is plus local tax.
Yes be very cautious on Ebay but I have feedback of almost 600 buy at least 2 items a week and no problems yet touch wood.
I just found this seller on first page did not look at many, its just an example of what they sell for on there.
2 years since I got a Game boy and 10 games shipped from China for about £100 would have cost about £250 here fro similar pack. Maybe I am just lucky with who I ahve bought from.

Don't forget if buying in the States you will also be liable for customs duty / VAT when you get back in to the country. That will add another 17.5% for VAT plus whatever the customs rate is for music players. (10%?)

Only if you have exceeded the £145 allowance. I thought I heard this was being increased

If he is spending £140 on an Ipod that doesn't leave much allowance for buying anything else.
The increase was one of Gordon Browns great ideas, unfortunately it would mean every country in the EU would have to agree to the increase. I think that is the reason it has yet to be implimented.

If you have not left for Florida yet this may be of use to you. Just been posted on a Forum of a cash rebate site I use. Might be worth a try if you are near Asda.

iPod Video 30G £129 at ASDA - instore only

February issue of ASDA magazine shows it at £129.00, but it may scan at £189.

Could be a mistake in the mag, but they will honour it - for now.
