Buying Fast passes at the gate

I tried to search so sorry if I missed this.

On another board someone mentioned that they were talking to someone in MK who had a 1 day ticket and they asked if he wanted to buy FP's. Is this a thing or a misunderstanding?

I know CL can but hadn't heard anything else?

You cannot buy FPs anywhere except for the CL and you have to have more than a 1-day ticket for those. Sounds like someone was trying to make some money off him or they were confused with Universal.

ETA: That's right! I had forgotten about those special pre-loaded tickets since none of the pre-loaded FP are of any real use.

Actually, they are selling tickets at the gate with pre-loaded Fastpasses. As mentioned above, they're mostly for attractions that are less desirable.
