Looks like OTUPs have increased in price from 20 to 22.50 to account for Florida taxes apparently.

Stings a little bit for MMB members taking advantage of BOGO OTUP I suppose, not much but still lol 22.5*12 brings the cost up to 270 for 24 OTU points compared to 240 previously with MMB. For non-MMB members the price has now increased from 480 to 540.

But in terms of the tax...what if they aren't purchased or used in Florida?

DVD/DVC is selling them to you from Florida, regardless of whether the points are used for a reservation in FL or elsewhere. Last year, I bought OTUPs for Aulani, and I got billed/taxed like this when using the MMB BOGO:

$213.24 <- OTUPs
$13.92 <- Sales Tax
$12.84 <- Accommodation Tax
======
$240.00 total

Bummer that the price went up. Luckily, I just bought some OTUP earlier this month now that I'm in the 7 month window for my October UY.

Ugh I regret not buying my OTUP earlier now and then just cancelling the reservation for my annual passes 😭

As with an increase with any price it sucks but it's really not all that dire.
The equivalent amortization rate of a non-discounted PVB point over its lifetime (assuming Dues rise wtih inflation) to get you to a $22.50 first-year cost is a shade below 4.6%.

That's a very small premium to pay for not having to buy the points and being able to rent them directly from Disney instead. It's a slight premium over private point rental rates, but not by much, and it is super easy. It strikes me as a reasonably fair price.

It is a good deal, I don't disagree and I definitely take advantage of the entire 24 point max when buying especially with MMB. It's the whole notion of constantly being nickel and dime'd especially by large corporations constantly that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Local mom and pop store wants to charge a little extra to cover their costs? I get it especially from folks I buy and live with in my local community.

Walmart? They can pound sand.

The Mouse being jealous of his cheddar is hardly a new thing. It is one of the reasons why Disney is a modest component of my overall vacation time and attention.

The other thing that comes to mind: There are two death knells for a Disney offering. One is "Gosh, this is great! No one is here!" The other is "Gosh, this is a fantastic deal!"

And at a net price of $14 and change the MMB OTUPs were a fantastic deal---they were a titch under my amortized-at-4% resale points. At $15.35, they are more than my resale points, but still pretty good, particularly considering they are unrestricted.
