Buying DVC points 100 direct then 100 resale for the same resort

If I buy 100 points direct in June of this year and then a year later buy another 100 points from resale for the same resort. Is it possible to combine those points together for one trip?

Yes - Multiple contracts can be used to book one trip. I have 120 resale points and 25 direct points and just used some from each contract for a trip I booked for September. Couple of things to note; IMO you will want to buy your resale contract in the same UY as your direct contract so that both contracts are on one membership number. If they are different UYs you will have more than one membership and that means a bit of work to book the trip (transferring points from one membership to another at the 7 month mark). There are MANY who have more than one UY and manage it just fine, but I don't need the stress of that, so I made sure my contracts were in the same UY. If you buy your resale contract first, Disney will sell you a Direct contract in your existing UY (assuming they have points available at the time you purchase). Also, if you are considering buying 100 Direct Points, you might as well buy 125 points to get the DVC Blue Card with the perks/discounts. There is another thread running right now that has suggested that DVC is only selling a minimum of 125 points direct to new DVC buyers. When I was shopping over the summer, there was no mention of 125 as a minimum to buy....only 125 as a minimum for Member Benefits. Good luck!!!

Yeah, real big thing noted above is, I don't know why you would bother with direct if not getting 125 points. The blue card benefits are a bit stripped as it is, but at least there is still something. Paying the direct premium and then not having it anyway seems like a huge extra cost. If your idea is being able to transfer to other resorts (like if buying the 100 points Riviera direct), you still can only transfer those 100 points to another resort booking. Your resale Riviera 100 points are locked into Riviera no matter what, and 100 points at other resorts will be pretty limiting.

You would want them to be the same UY in order to combine for a single trip, If not, it is two memberships and only way to use together is a transfer.
