I just printed my GAD vouchers for my family. I wanted to upgrade these to an AP (using the DVC discount of course!) can I do this at the dtd guest service pavillion or must I go to a theme park?
We get in late on a Sunday and Monday morning have an early breakfast at MK so I was hoping to get the AP ahead of time.
Has anyone done this? Any tips? Thanks

We will be doing the same thing at the end of this month. We were told on another thread that we needed to go to one of the parks to redeem the GAD voucher and not DTD. If anyone else knows if this can be done at DTD, please advise. Thx.

THere's a terrific sticky on the parks board that covers nearly every ticket question you can imagine.

I do know, though, that you have to redeem your GAD voucher and ENTER a park before you can do any upgrading. Once you've used the ticket by entering, you can go to guest relations inside and upgrade to a MYW or AP, including DVC-AP.

There have been a lot of reports that you don't have to enter the park with the GAD voucher - that you can direct upgrade. Others have said they had to enter the park first.

I think the only scenario where you have to enter the park is with discounted tickets (UT) - to lock in the gate price vs. the pruchase price.

When all else fails, read the directions... (I'm a guy so it was expected!)
On the GAD voucher, it says "Present voucher and valid ID at a designated theme park will call ticket window." There you go!

I will be doing the same thing in a couple weeks. I called and spoke with a CM in ticketing and I was told NOT to use the voucher to enter the park. Go to Guest Relations outside of the park entrance first and it can all be taken care of there. She emphasized that I do not want to use it to enter the park if I want to use it towards the DVC AP.

OHHHH, Good to know............... we'll be doing this in 4 days!!!! So, Thanks for the info!!! :goodvibes

I just did this last week. Went to the guest relations window at international gateway (we were staying at the bwv). Gave them my DH's expiring AP/dvc, our blue member card, drivers license, GAD voucher and cc and it was all done quickly and correctly. No need to turn in the voucher first, I think that might be the case for upgrading a regular ticket, but not the AP. Actually the CM said, looks like you got a "coupon" to apply to the price. I think the renewal cost $280. Pretty good for 15 months.

Yes, that is exactly right. When we upgraded our GAD vouchers to DVC AP renewals last month, it was all done in one transaction at the guest relations outside of MK. Since we had 4 AP's to renew it took awhile, so I asked the CM why some people reported having to exchange the GAD voucher for a 1 day ticket, then use the ticket in a turnstyle, and then upgrade it after using it. He said for any MYW tickets, they could only issue the one day ticket because it had to be used that day, as specified in the promotion. Since AP's are dated, they could issue them directly without making the guest use the 1 day ticket first. Makes sense.

Thanks so much for sharing this! :thumbsup2 We'll be renewing 3 AP's with the GAD vouchers next month!! :yay: (and we've each received two "reminders" from Disney in the mail the past couple weeks that we'll get 15 months when we renew within 30 days of expiration!!! ;))

:woohoo:
