Buying direct at older resorts

Anyone buy direct lately? Or go on wait list? Wondering how the older resorts are selling since the direct prices went up. I'd love 50 or 65 more BWV points Aug UY but the $155/pt is crazy. We got 55 points in 2014 for $123/pt and we were stressed at that price. Is anyone buying at these prices? Might as well add on at the PBV or VGF for $165/pt and get a longer contract life.

$155 is crazy imo for BWV and bcv, etc. I think BLT is $170.

For that price you can get 100points instead of 50 points on the resale market. Then you rent out half your points every year (or all your points every other year) TO COVER MAINTENANCE.

Buying resale would then be win win. No maintenance fees to worry about and same sale price but double the points!

At those prices you either wait out the right resale contract or buy one of the new resorts. Crazy that anyone would pay that, but I guess they do.

To get smaller contract with same current UY. There are no BCV, BWV or VWL contracts for under 150 points in the resale market right now (specifically in my 2 UY...Aug or June).
But those 150 point Rosales will cost the same as 75 points direct.

That is true!!! I wonder if anyone is going direct anymore (except for PBV)????
I imagine only if they need 25 points. Once you get to 50 points, you might as well buy 100 resale.

I've been looking for a small BCV contract (100 or less) and haven't seen anything! Wonder if Disney grabs them thru ROFR?

I'd agree with the larger contract for several reasons including it brings more contracts into play and it's likely to be cheaper per point, at least $10 pp cheaper in this scenario. An alternative is to consider an alternate resort to get an additional home resort window OR to buy something cheaper like SSR to get additional points that are cheaper. Odds are you can use the cheaper points in this manner for about anything with planning including BWV standard view. There is one other alternative and that is to go direct but for VGF or Poly or even VGC.

I don't think so. There just aren't very many BCV contracts being offered for sale and those that are for sale seem to be selling very quickly. Just now, I was able to find 10 BCV contracts listed for sale - and 9 out of those 10 were listed in April or May of this year. The largest contract (for 360 points) has been on the market since last August. The smallest was 150 points. There were 4 that were 300 points or larger.

So really, IMO, there just aren't very many BCV contracts out there for sale. And as you've noticed, the 100 point or less contracts are very rare!

BCV was the second DVC resort, and when it was first sold, they had minimum point requirements. I imagine you'll see mostly larger contracts and a few 25-50 point add-on contracts on the market, but not many in the 100 range.

Great info, thanks for sharing @supersnoop and @CarolMN! You are right on all accounts and that may save us time and money in not waiting. Thanks!

We have two BWV contracts, purchased direct in like 99 and 01. One for 64 and the other for 100. They are not for sale but we're proof that contracts of this size were bought.

BVC was not the second DVC resort. The order was OKW, VB, HH and BWV's were about the same time, and then BCV's.

I believe VWL was also before BCV IIRC.

Whoops, you're both right. I must have been confused by the 2042 expiration date.
It was interesting. IIRC they declared VWL sold out early preparing for BCV, then had to reopen sales 6 months or so later to finish it up so I believe BCV actually sold out first.
