Buying direct and getting previous years points

Quick question about buying direct. If I bought an Oct UY, will I get all of 2021s points? If I buy Dec UY could I potentially get 2020's points along with 2021?

If you buy October today (if it’s available), you will get current UY points for October 2021. If you buy December today (if it’s available), you will get December 2020 points since that is the current UY. However, if you buy December on December 1st, you will only get December 2021 points and not 2020 points since, by then, the current UY will have changed to December 2021.

I purchased April uy and completed my buy in october. I got 2021 points

the 2021 points were awesome as I immediately banked them to be spent in 2022

When buying direct, DVD/C can only sell you a contract full of current UY points. Meaning, you can't buy a 200pt contract but only receive 100pts for the current UY.

Was your purchase direct or resale? Just making sure you understand...

If you bought direct: when you made your purchase in October, all April contracts were already in the 2021 UY since Apr 21 had already passed. So you properly received 2021 points like you were supposed to. Keep in mind, you owed the 2-3 months prorated dues on the 2021 points since taking ownership in Oct.

"Previous year points" are completely 100% free* because it's a full year's worth of points that you owe absolutely $0.00 dues on because the dues were already paid off by whomever owned them last year and didn't use them. (e.g. Previous owner that eventually had their contract ROFR'd, or Disney themselves).

DVC does allow a courtesy exception to bank newly bought direct points for a contract already passed its banking deadline. So if timed right and with available inventory you can have double points on just the second day of a new contract.

This one is easy once you know that DVC only sells starting with current UY points. The exception they've allowed themselves to offer is to bank those current points even if it's past the banking deadline. As mentioned Oct is in it's 2021 UY so that's what you would get. As of today Dec is in now in it's 2021 UY so that's what you would get. If someone bought Dec UY yesterday though it would have been 2020 UY points that could have been banked then and there into their 2021 UY.
