Buying Beer at Epcot (Funny incident last week!)

well I am looking at the post and I don't see a smilie - plus I think if the poster was being sarcastic they would not have made the comment regarding their in laws being recovering alcoholics....
No debate here...you see it your way...fine with me! :)

"Where's your wife?" asked the server. "We can only serve one beer per person." "She's in England, shopping." :

Any chance she was really in England (as in thousands of miles away) shopping? :rotfl:

Floridagirl, yes that was him! My husband is 32 with very short/cropped hair. That is great! It truly is a small world. I complained the other day that I didn't meet any Disboarders at Disney and guess what I kind of did! It was beautiful there that day wasn't it? I thoroughly enjoyed the flower festival. Take care. What a great story! I hope when we go we will meet fellow DIS members!! ( I will have green buttons :goodvibes )

Addicted to Smilies

anyway - it really doesn't matter - I just thought that post was quite rude....

I am glad to know there are some nice WDW go'ers out there!! I'm always one to vouch for someone needing an extra person to buy a drink!!

Does anyone else think that is a STUPID rule at WDW. I had the same problem trying to buy beer at Fantasmic. My DH stayed in our seats with our DD and I went to buy 2 beers for us. Well, the beer kiosk is pretty far from our seats and I could only buy one beer at a time. A man behind me offered to buy the other one and I would pay him for it, but they people running it said no, I had to buy one and come back again for the other one. So I did that and walked the beer all the way back to my hubby and then went and bought another for myself. STUPID!!!
They should change that rule and at least let you buy 2 at a time. :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Yes Yeartoolate I was in The United Kingdom shopping. I needed to get some souvineres (sp?) while my husband was attempting to get buzzed :teeth: Stacey2grls

I had that problem at the AKL pool bar. I wanted to treat my mom to a specialty drink, so I went down to the pool bar to buy one for both of us. The plan was to bring them up to the room so we could sit on the balcony and watch the animals while drinking our drinks...

.... the bartender of course told me I needed two people, or at the very least 2 IDs, but I somehow managed to bat my eyelashes and charm him into giving in. In the end, I got my two drinks! :rotfl2:

Ok, I understand where Disney is coming from here. Personally, I'm more apt to think that the server was worried the guy was buying alcohol for a minor than for him to have two drinks himself.

But I can see myself in that situation. I want to go look at a store and my boyfriend doesn't (no surprise there). So he waits in line to get beer (which more than likely won't happen cuz I'm not much of a beer drinker), and orders one for him and one for me.

But it it's Disney's purpose to "only serve one drink" how are they to stop the guy from going to another vendor and buying beer there later.

I really don't know if he was buying the two beers for himself, but it seems odd that he is. I've been to many places, and many parties.. and I don't think I have ever seen anyone carrying around two beers (unless to deliver one to someone else).

Well I will be supporting my "SO CALLED" alcoholism this weekend while visiting the mouse. But sorry my wife cant help you get your beer cause she'll be getting her's too. Monorail and AROUND THE WORLD here we come. As Wayne and Garth would say "DRINK ON".

If having one or two beers at disney constitutes alcoholism, you should go to a nascar race. I have been to disney many times and I cannot recall ever seeing anyone slightly drunk. You go to a nascar race and you are lucky if you find someone who is not drunk. Disney should change their policy so that you can at least get two drinks. How many people actually go to disney to party (not counting pleasure island). Just thought I would put my 2 cents in.

Get a life, sweetie. I guess you don't recognize humor when you see it. DUH.

If you want rude, I'll give you rude.

Thanks, ahhhhhhhh! and Laugh O. Grams, for recognizing a bit o'humor.

Is one beer per person a recent rule? A few years ago at the F&WF we went to a beer tasting. There was a tent set up somewhere in the back of the WS. The owner of the brewery was supposed to be there to describe the beers, talk about the brewing process, etc. Well, he didn't show up, so the few of us who were there (maybe five people) were told by the CM's that we could help ourselves to all the beer we wanted.

:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 About that many beers later we decided to resume our evening dining around the lake.

why don't you go ahead and give me rude then - sweetie.....

and now I know smilies don't show up at the office!! (amazing how things are taken without them showing up)

Didn't seem like humor to me, especially with the in-laws comments. But gee, I also don't like Dame So-and_so who makes fun of how people look, so I guess I just dont' "get" Mean Humor.

thanks floridagirrl2.....

is that a rottie in your profile?

He is 100% Pound Puppy, so your guess is as good as any. :teeth: Our vet says he has a lot of (gulp) pit bull in him, though. We never would have PURPOSELY chosen a pit bull, but this guy has been an absolutely great dog for 13 years--sweet, loving, loyal, loves our cat, won''t run away or leave the yard for any reason.

I have two rotties (one pure bred and her pup - a mix!!!) lillygator - my user name - are both my original "girls" (dogs - before I had kids) Lilly is on her last legs though :(

Which way 2 hrs from Disney? We are in Sarasota....

Hey that happened to us at Fantasmic, only as I was leaving a lady touched my elbow and said I'll buy your dh's beer, I slipped her the money, (she was 2 people back) went thru the line, and I and dh had our beer... no more than that beer btw!!

just sayin....

DH and I were at Epcot a week ago Saturday just for the day. On the way to see the British Invasion in England, we stopped and stood in a long, LONG line for beer at the kiosk outside of the pub. Did I say this line was long??

When we were finally the second in line, we heard the guy in front of us try to order two beers, one for his wife and one for himself. "Where's your wife?" asked the server. "We can only serve one beer per person." "She's in England, shopping." "Can you have her wave or something? I can't sell you 2 beers." "Gee, I don't know where she is." "Well, you'll have to go get her so that I can see her." "But I don't want to have to stand in this long line all over again."

At this point, my husband nudged me and said, "You should offer to let him buy you the beer." DH knew I'd already drank my limit (2 glasses of champagne!) and only wanted bottled water. So I stepped forward and said, "You can buy the extra beer for me!" The guy turned around, smiled, and said, "Oh look, here's my wife, right behind me!" pirate: With that, the server sold him two beers, but the guy also waited to hear what we ordered (the beer for DH and water for me) and would literally not let us pay for it--he stepped back in front of us to pay for our drinks.

So we did a good deed and were rewarded with free drinks, to boot! We were really tickled! :rotfl:
Beer drinkers of the World Unite! I think that was nice of you and the other fella! Cheers!

It is about trying to control underage drinking, and control "overindugence: :p The bar tender really needs to know who he's serving for the second drink. At PI, they have to be able to see the second person, their wristband, and depending on if they look 30+ or not, their ID too. Plus, if the second person can't stand up... they aren't going to get served either.
