If DH and I decide to make Christmas a go, no matter where we stay, we're going to get AP's. I can buy them when I check in at VWL on Sat, right? I don't have to do them in advance???

You can't buy them at WL/VWL but there is no need to buy them in advance unless you are planning on buying DDE too.

You can purchase them at any guest services or ticket booth at the parks or DTD. If we are buying on site, I just go at park opening and have never had much if any wait. Lots of DVCers seem to like to go to DTD but to me it is not worth the extra trip unless already there for a meal/shopping.

Can't you also buy the DDE onsite, too? I called and they told me I can buy it and then pick it up at Epcot(?) at the end of the same day. Did I get erroneous information?

Can you use Disney Visa Rewards dollars to buy them onsite? Do you just show them your dvc card and they give you the discount?

If I wanted to buy it early(delivered) can I get the AP and DDE all in one shot before I get to Disney? Will the all be activated when i arrive? :confused3
Thanks
Chris

That information is correct, you can call the DDE office once you are at Disney World and have your AP. But it won't work for everyone because the DDE office is only open Mon - Fri 9 to 5.

The DDE is activated at the time you order it. It is valid for about 13 months from when you order it. AN AP is activated when you turn in the voucher (or claim a "will-call") for an actual AP at Guest Services.

Now, there's a bit of info they neglected to mention. Also, the info re: effective period is helpful, as it doesn't make sense to pre-order the DDE too far in advance. We'll be arriving on a Monday on our next trip down, so I think maybe I'll just do everything that first day. Thanks so much for the update!

You will need your DVC card and photo ids for the adults. Sorry, don't know about the Rewards dollars.

As always, everyone has to do their own calculations. If arriving early on Monday, you will lose any DDE discount on meals before you can pick up your card.

Supposedly, the 13 month extension kicks in early in the month. If you order the DDE card after the 9th or so , it will be good through the following month of 08. Before the 7th, expiration will be the end of the month in which you order. I'm not positive about those dates but know I put the 9th in my calendar after reading Cheshire's post about it.

Our next trip is mid May. I'm calling on the 9th or 10th of April because: we arrive on a Sunday, I prefer a real card over the temporary and I'm almost positive we will not go in June of 2008.

BTW, the DDE card always expire at the end of a given month...did we say that yet?

I purchased my AP online 4 or 5 months ahead of time but it was a voucher. I activated it when I got there and did the same with the DDE and Epcot. Wouldn't you want to have the voucher in hand with our $100 discount to avoid any confusion and if you aren't using points go for the AP rates at the hotels? Just my 2¢.
