Buying appliances on Craigslist

I'm looking to buy a double oven and also possibly a range cook top on Craigslist. Aside from the typical Craigslist scams (broken products, paypal scams), are there any things in particular I should watch for if/when I go to look at these items?

I will be going to look at the items with DH, and we are going to ask the person to plug them to make sure they at least appear to work. Other tips?

If the seller can't or won't let you try it out then you should not buy it.

Try out all the features (including all burners and in the oven both bake and broil).

Agree completely with SeashoreCM.

And you will be responsible for transportation and installation and there is no warranty.

Also before you go check the space that you have to put the appliances in, and carefully check the dimensions of the items.

Check for Roaches Seriously, when I was growing up, we never had roaches until my parents bought a second hand refrigerator, and it took us a year to get rid of them. I'm not saying not to buy second hand as I have, however, I ALWAYS, keep the appliance outside or in a garage until after I have sprayed it thoroughly and wait a couple of days.
