Buying and returning

Often house hold items if they dont "fit" we were trying to find new carpets and thought one size would work but it just didn't look right in the room when we got it home.

Also clothes bought on line for fit.

likely 10 items a year.

I do more catalog shopping than store shopping, so I end up returning some stuff that way, mainly because it can't be tried on until you receive it.

As far as stores, I generally return something if it's defective. If I don't like, I don't buy it in the first place.

I buy and return unworn clothes. When I go shopping with DH, he has no patience to wait for me to try things on, and since my only other option is to shop alone (which I don't really like to do unless I am just running in and out for one thing), I usually end up buying things in what I think is my size, trying them on later at home, and returning the item(s) I don't like.

Well, I am the return queen. My husband always jokes that I shop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and return on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Sunday is a day of rest. ;)

Seriously, I once bought and returned 19 shower curtains before I gave up and had one custom made. :confused3

My DH doesn't have time to shop for himself. I buy everything for him, including shoes. He picks out what he likes and I return the rest. I am his personal shopper.

I find returning things to be a great hassle. The only times I return is when I absolutely have to as in defective merchandise, or I realize that I must've accidentally reached for the wrong size.

If I'm buying it, I better like it cause it ain't going back!

I once saw a woman return a whole bag of clothing, it looked like an entire wardrobe. I wondered if her mind was in a fog at the time of the original purchase. Maybe her daughter went on a shopping spree without her knowledge. Maybe she needed the money for something else? :confused3

Or maybe it was pirateofthecarolinas. ;) I just read your post!

I very rarely return things, as a matter of fact I think I've returned 3 things in 2 years and one of those was for a wedding that was cancelled. I'm embarassed to return things and hate doing it.

It also drives me nuts at work when people*return things. I had a lady once who wanted to buy like 10 books to take to her book club to decide on what to read and then return them all. That screws up our inventory....also had a lady the other day who wanted to buy something she bought a YEAR ago!! come on gimme a break there's got to be a statute of limitations somewhere....

Usually only defective merchandise.. I hate doing returns, so I try my best to be sure that I can live with an item before I leave the store with it..

It irks me when people buy things for a special occasion, then return it after they've worn it to the wedding/dinner party or whatever is.

When I worked at Gimbel's right after H.S. graduation, I watched another associate sell a sequined green beret to this girl who said she was going to wear it in a beauty pagent. Hats are not returnable.

Don't you know it a week or two later, here she is wanting to return the beret. I wasn't going to let her, but she said "the woman who sold it to me said I could return it at any time." I had to get the manager involved, and ofcourse the store took it back.

She then placed it in the trash because it couldn't be resold.

Hardly ever return- I sometimes do return my child's clothing when I buy something for them and it turns out to be a wrong size but even that doesn't happen too often. Hate the hassle of returns. :guilty: Have found things I have meant to return but never have months later in my spare room.. Oops.
