Buying an iPhone from Target

I was ready to buy an iPhone from Target. However, I was chatting with an online rep of my carrier (Verizon) and she told me that even though I was purchasing a Verizon phone, the company would not provide me with any tech support if I had any kind of problem. I do not have great technology skills so this made me very leary of purchasing from Target in spite of the fact that I will save quite a bit of money. I would appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Any tech support for the phone itself? You would go to Apple for that no matter where you buy the phone. You'll have a one year warranty with them. Any issues you just call and make an appointment and they'll straiten it out for you. For what it's worth, three of us have had iPhones from the very beginning and have only been to the Genius Bar a handful of times over the years. A lot of iPhones over a lot of years and very, very few problems.

If you mean tech support for your service, I don't see how they could turn you away if you're paying for the service.

Or do you mean just learning to use the phone? iPhones are very intuitive and easy to use. You could take a class with Apple or there a ton of resources online, books etc.

I bought 2 iphones thru target. No issues whatsoever in buying them and getting service on the phone itself. Simple call to Apple solved the issues. I have Apple care on DS' phone and have had it replaced 4 times.

On another positive note, when I bought my phones I got the extra 5% off when I used my Red Card.:thumbsup2

This is why we are considering going through Target to get DD13's phone. Love that 5% off discount!

I have also bought Iphones at Target to get the 5% off and never had a problem. The Apple store will help you with whatever you need. In case you are interested, I did see that Best Buy was offering free Iphone 5's. Didn't read all the fine print-saw it in an email yesterday.

never bought from Target but have bought from other locations outside of verzion store and have had my phone replaced under warranty and still got offered learn to use your phone classes.

Bought a Samsung from Amazon with Verizon service at Xmas, had troubles last week, called Verizon, tech spent an hour on the phone with me troubleshooting on two different days, never once mentioned that I didn't buy the phone from them. Ended up suggesting that I have it replaced, which Amazon did willingly even though I was two days outside of the return window (gotta love Amazon :) ).

Another reason why I no longer have Verizon service....

The salesperson probably just wanted you to buy from them. You should have no problems buying from Target.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I just might join the smartphone generation.

Hey I just did this! My only problem was that I got the wrong data plan at Target but I went to the store the next day and fixed it! No trouble at all!

Verizon tech told us to buy one at Target lol since it was cheaper! Also got a $50 Target gift card when we bought the phone last year. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it from Target.
