Buying an AP for the Room Discounts Worth It?

Hi all, I have only been to UO/IOA once before many years ago when they were still using a system like WDW fast passes. I want to take my husband to the Harry Potter World so I would like to say onsite for the front of the line acess. We really are only going to spend 2 days there and we can get tickets at a discount rate of $99, however I am thinking of getting an AP on flex pay just for the room discount. I have read on here where other people are getting AAA discounts, but I can't seem to. I was only going to book for 1 night do 2 days, and we have to go this summer because my Husband might be deployed begining of August. Any advice?

If you decide to do this, you should be able to book the room before getting the AP pass. Call the reservation system, verify that the AP rate is available for the day you want to visit, and then book it. You won't need the AP pass at time of booking, but you'll probably be asked to show it when checking in.

thanx for the advice, I just got off the phone and there was only about a $20 discount. However I might go ahead and get one because I think I might go twice and if I understand correctly it would be less expensive to buy an annual pass than to buy two sets of tickts.

I might be wrong but I think it's probably worth it to have one AP. If nothing more, I think you can at least break even. We're also only staying on-site one night for 2 dys. FOTL, but our group also has the 7 dy. passes and we do plan on doing the parks at least 1 if not 2 more days without FOTL, before flying out.

If it's not a bargain I plan to MAKE it a bargain using my AP throughout the parks and at the restaurants  . Oh, I can choke a discount the death ;) .

We did the same thing in 2005, but I would have felt like I got away with something if we had been able to return before my AP expired. So I think you REALLY get a bargain when you're able to return and use your pass again before it expires. Good for you!

Oh, and go ahead and book your room now, just make sure you call back frequently and close to your check-in date to see if they've lowered the APH rate and re-book your ressie to the lower rate when they do (they'll credit your credit card for the difference). That's the best bargain of all IMO.

Are you FL residents? For some reason the FL res seem cheaper then the AP tickets discount.

But yea I kinda think APs are worth having and you can get discounts on food etc and stuff like that. You also don't have to pay full price up front which is nice.

It depends on when you go if the discount is good or not. Unfortunately when I wanted to go it was not that great of discount.

There are times when it is about $134 a night with pass.

I'm curious...where are you finding the $99 tickets? I can't find them anymore!:sad1:
Thanks!

For 2 nights in October the AP discount isn't worth the price of the AP, unless maybe the discounts on food for 5 people would make up the difference? Our problem is that we're planning some meals that aren't eligible for AP discount.

With Harry Potter opening soon, they may not have to give big AP discounts this year to fill the resorts. So I'm not holding my breath. I have bought us all the $99 tickets, but I have the current AP rate booked; if the rate gets better before our trip, I'll see if I can upgrade to an AP, otherwise I'll take the regular rate.
