Buying airfare thru Disney

This just seems too good to be true- I saw on these boards that someone bought airfare thru disney with their trip package for less than at the airline's website and I checked it out. I could save $200 by buying airfare thru disney. It's air tran. I still don't know if I would do it, I like the flexibility of being able to cancel/change with SW.
Has anyone bought airfare with their package?

when I called Disney to get a quote, it was the same price as booking directly through Airtran. :(

I used to check the airfare when booking my WDW packages, but it was always the same exact price as whatever AT was offering on that particular day. So over the past several years I stopped even looking through them (WDW). I preferred to wait out AT or SW and get my airfare when it was at the lowest point I thought it would go.

Well this time when AT & SW released their rates they were higher than they have ever been out of PGH. So I waited them out. And they went higher. And then higher. :scared1: We are used to paying around $650-$725 r/t for the 4 of us. They were sitting at well over $1000. I read that someone here on the DIS got their airfare through WDW and it was cheaper than what AT was offering. I was sceptical but called anyway. They were able to get us the same exact flights I was looking at with AT for $830. So I took it! It saved us over $200.

We always fly AT or SW, whoever offers the better price. In the past it was SW, but most recently (the last few years) it has been AT. SW isn't even coming close. This year they are pretty much running around the same price. But AT has more and better flight time options.

Also, just FYI -- I have been able to change my flight times with AT in the past (even by a whole day once) and they never charge me a fee.

Good luck! :goodvibes

Don't call to get a quote initially. Just go to the website and price out a package with air. It will show you how much it is and give you an idea of a few options.
I initially did this and saw that air was really cheap through Delta and Airtran. By the time I was ready to book the Delta had gone back up. So I booked the Airtran flights through Airtran. Because I watched it for so many days I noticed that even on the Disney site it went up and down so you might want to check a few times.

I bought airfare through Disney for my Dec trip last year. It was JetBlue and the price was identical through Disney or through JetBlue directly. I bought through Disney for convenience and to take advantage of 6 months interest free financing with my Disney Visa.

it didn't even occur to me to price out the airfare through Disney when we booked. But after all was said and done and booked, I went back in and priced it out. It was about $200 cheaper. So next time, we'll be pricing it out both ways first !! :goodvibes

Booking through Disney saved us like 150 dollars on Airtran. They gave me the code as soon as I booked the trip and I quickly went to Airtrans website to reserve my seats since I have a 4 and 6 year old going with me.

I used Disney to book my upcoming October trip because it priced out exactly what I saw from Delta.

I got a quote recently from Disney that was lower than anything I could find on Continental's website.

The Disney CM told me that "Mickey has an in with the airlines."

If and when I do book a trip this year, I will strongly consider buying our airfare through Disney. As another pp mentioned, I can put it on my Disney Visa and get six months financing plus I'll get Disney rewards. Win-win if you ask me!

I also saved over $200 on airfare booking through Disney. I did price the airfare seperately and was surprised that I was saving that much. We are flying out of Pittsburgh on Airtran.

Tickets for our Sept. trip are cheaper thru Disney than from Airtran directly.

Are there any downsides to buying airline tickets thru Disney? Would we lose the ability to do online checkin or to call Airtran and get a credit if the prices drop dramatically? :confused3

We don't have any decent airports near us, when we fly we need to travel at least 3 hours to get to one that has AirTran or SW, to either Raleigh/Durham or to Richmond. Will Disney price me air from an airport not local to my address?

Isn't there another advantage to booking airline with Disney? When you book everything with them and add on travel insurance, aren't your flights now covered, too?

Also, I booked flights with my package from Disney last year and was able to ask them for my JetBlue confirmation # - from there, I was able to choose seats for my family right from the JetBlue site.

We booked our airfare with our Disney package back in 2007. We are 7 hours away (and we are an hour away from the airport that had service to orlando) with all the airline delays it actually took longer to get to Orlando flying then our drive would've been - but we got an unbelievable deal on airfare. It was just over $200 for all four of us- one being an infant on my lap. For the price we couldn't pass it up!

I wil be buying our air through Disney for our annual dec trip. I also get a limo from the airport through Disney. I just really like the one stop shop.:yay:

Okay- I am trying to price this thru the WDW website- but it does not pull up airfare for me? How do I get to the airfare section?

Firstly you need to make sure you are pricing a package - not just "Hotel".
Then when you finally get through all the dates and resort choices you come to the 'Customize your Trip' page with the prices and this where you add the tickets, dining plan and DME, another option will be Flights.

Just call to price it out. Air is messed up online way too frequently. It would definitely save time over having to have it fixed.
