Buying a stroller for Disney - Chicco or Maclaren?

Better go to BRU and take a few test drives. What else do you have to do while you wait for your trip to get here :rotfl: I spent hours, days, weeks no months getting it down to exactly what I wanted for our trip last Sept. I am so glad I did. I actually bought and returned multiple strollers for pushing issues. For heavier (meaning over 20 pounds) kids the Macs can not be beat. You will use them for a long time. Resale is pretty good as well. (do a craigslist search) . I love the raincover too because it is not bulky just snaps on front and rest of stroller resist water.

I cannot imagine depending on rental strollers. I LOVE having her stroller at the resort - especially now - she's 4 and can go longer without her stroller but by the end of the day/night she's beat and is just too big (41" and 41 pounds) for me to carry her like I could have when she was smaller. So the trek from park entrance to bus would be intolerable without her own stroller - not to mention waiting in those bus lines at park close with her tired and me miserably trying to hold her.

We are going in September as well & I have been going nuts over which stroller to buy. So far I have narrowed it down to the Graco IPO.

I have a 2 & 4yo & am most concerned about the 4yo. I KNOW she will NOT make it thru a full day at Disney without a ride.

Lots of smaller umbrella type strollers are SOOO narrow my kids look squished. But at BRU the Graco was so much sturdier then the Chicco & the only Mac's they carry by me are $120 - NOT spending that!

I am waiting thru the summer to buy it...maybe a newer model will come out... or a price drop!

I know you were going to wait for a price drop, but Amazon.com has the Graco IPO on sale for $54.12.

ok, so I am terribly impatient and took the plunge before I could get to BRU, but Pittsburgh weather is way too crummy to be making any extra trips at the moment, and I couldn't pass up the deal (on ebay) total of $71 for the 2007 Volo in Crimson which includes UPS shipping, seller had good feedback, so I went for it! I figure I can always resell if it doesn't work out.

In case anyone else is interested, this is the same seller as babye-store . com, but their ebay name is babyproductstore They had some other colors , and a 2006 model as well. Can't wait to take it for a test drive!

Just bought the Maclaren Volo in orange. My DS6 1/2 (44lbs, 44inches or so) loves it. I love it, tall enough for no hunch backs, very light weight, folds like an umbrella easily with strap to hold on shoulder. My son has more room to grow in heighth and he is very comfortable, he also has the Chicco and was use to the rubber part for his feet (flexible), it did not bother him. The "basket" is bigger than our Chicco and it feels more sturdy than the Chicco when pushing, which it does easily. I also just received the L Childress cups'n cargo pouch to put on the handles to carry assorted "junk" and cups of soda/water bottles etc. Can't wait to use it in disney in May, my son also can't wait to go to the mall so he can use it sooner!!!!

I can rave about the Maclaren's until I'm blue in the face. I love mine and have said that I'll never buy another stroller brand.

I bought the Maclaren Volo for my DD for our WDW trips and I love it! I especially love how easy it is to fold and the carrying strap is just perfect to carry on the buses!

I'm thinking we need a sticky that just says "Buy the Maclaren Volo"! :rotfl:
Every time this question is asked, this seems to be the concensus.

We've got a Mac TechnoXT, but you can't go wrong with ANY of the Macs :thumbsup2

We had a Chicco for a while, but our dd was just outgrowing it. We did some research, and ended up deciding on a Maclaren (got the 2007 version on clearance for $67). The one test I made sure our dd did was to drop her legs as if she had fallen asleep...no problems whatsoever. We have used it around malls here, and she fits in it soooo much better!

Anyway, Maclaren has my vote.

Congrats you new mac volo owners!! Welcome to the club. did you know the 2007 volo comes with the rain cover?!! excellent addition. I do not know if it is true or not but I heard the 2008 model is missing it again? in put anyone?

I have a 2-2006 models and 1- 2007 so I ended up buying rain cover for the techno off craigslist and rigged it with velcro tape so it works fine for one of my 2006's but I love the 2007 model for the rain cover alone. We used it at least once a day last Sept while in Disney.

Well, it looks like I made the right decision! It is scheduled to arrive on Monday, can't wait. Now I am busy shopping for accessories of course to keep me occupied until it arrives! :rotfl: I saw the Maclaren organizer thing, but am not sure how well it folds up with that attached? Also considering the skip hop saddlebags, they are on sale a couple of places online at the moment. Any other suggestions?

Thanks to everyone for their input! I could spend all day on here :disrocks:

I can't say enough good things about out Maclaren. I love the thing. My only suggestion would be to buy on of the other models that reclines. The Volo is a little bare. I know they cost a lot, but you will enjoy it. When we had our second child we bought a Phil and Teds instead of the Maclaren double. And it's just not the same. Although the Phil and Teds is a great stroller, it's just really heavy.

I know that when we go down in May, we are going to pay to rent a stroller as we think it will be easier and less chance of being identified as a target. We will also be traveling with Grandma, so that does add another set of hand if someone gets tired.

Ok... so I got my DH to BRU to check out the strollers. We did decide on the MAC Volo instead of the Graco IPO. But since we're not going till Sept. I decided to shop online to get a better deal...I found a 2007 model I LOVED on babydealz.com, HOWEVER...

I just callled Maclaren direct and they said Babydealz.com is NOT an authorized dealer!! You could get a FAKE! And NO warrenty by MAC!! (If you read their information they sound fishy, that's why I called.)

I just thought everybody should know...

Hello - check out my earlier post (#24) I got a great deal, even better than what babydealz was offering. The stroller is set to arrive on Monday, and they sent UPS tracking information, so far so good. Even though buying though ebay is also a risk, they also have the $2000 worth of buyer protection offered on the auction, and states that it does come with the warranty. I can let you know Monday if it arrives and in good shape. Keeping my fingers crossed....:goodvibes

Be careful what you buy for cheap on ebay. I bought from babyproductstore. I know my stroller wasn't brand new in a box. I think parts had been swapped. Luckily, the stroller was damaged when it arrived, and they took it back. After that, I bought a Volo at BRU.

My Volo didn't come with a rain cover, but I wanted the coffee color. It was $99.00. I think that the more expensive Volos (for maybe $115.00) at BRU come with the rain cover. Pay attention to the details if you are really wanting the rain cover. Other than our Disney trip, I'd never use the rain cover. If it rains at Disney, my DD can wear a poncho.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my new Volo came today and it is awesome! It also came with the rain cover. Thanks for all the suggestions - I would definitely recommend this to others who are shopping. DD really liked it and didn't want to get out. :thumbsup2

:confused3 We are having The "stroller delema" also... Concerned about the Volo not reclining. Also the official MAC website say it goes to 55lbs not 65lbs. My DS is 40lbs just turned 3. I also have a DD about to turn 2. We are going in September. My DH is trying to tell me we don't need strollers. We went last September and had a hard time getting DS to ride in his stroller then at 2 1/2. We pushed it around empty 1/2 the time but he did nap in it some. I Couldn't imagine not having it. It was hard at night coming home on the packed buses trying to carry to 2 strollers and 2 sleepy toddlers. This time DS will be 3 1/2. We had the Red Chicco strollers last year and loved them. But now DS is over the 37lb weight limit. Thinking of selling the two chicco ones and our other Double Graco Stroller and buying two new ones. I can't get one new one with out the other with out fights. Easier to just get two new ones. Found the 2007 Volo at Babye-store.com for only 74.99 with free shipping.
So any thoughts...
Stroller no Stroller for DS at 3 1/2 years ???
Maybe just try to use the Chiccos or bring just one ???
Or get new ones ??? I'M SOOO CONFUSED...

My DD will be a little over 3 when we go, and we decided to do the stroller. With as much as they cost to rent at WDW, I figured we might as well spend about the same amount and have one for the airport, from room to bus, etc...The carry strap on the Volo is awesome, should really help for the off and on the bus process.

Also, the ebay seller that I purchased from was babyproductstore, I am pretty sure they are the same seller as babyestore, and their ebay price was better (on some colors). They still have all the colors left, but each is a different price. I had a good experience and will be leaving them good feedback.
