I've been wanting to buy a laminating machine I saw at Wal Mart for round 30$.

I was wondering if any of you were laminating pages... or simply laminating the important things in your pages such as pictures, letters, maps, tickets stubs etc... to keep them from being damaged :)

Well since I have (several) Xyron's, I just use the 2 sided laminate cartridges that came with them. I seem to be the family laminator for all relatives. lol I even use it for doing some items we use in our geocaching hobby where they end up outdoors but in tupperware type containers (that end up leaking) & they have held up just fine over a couple of years.

So...if you have a need for adhesive, maybe a Xyron will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. We've also used the Xyron to make magnets since it has magnet cartridge available too -- it laminates the top of the magnet also. So, multipurpose is great.

Xyrons come in different sizes -- depending on your project needs. But not all size models offer laminate or magnets. Some (the smallest ones) just do adhesive.

No heat. No electricity or batteries.

I have a Xyron too. I haven't really laminated things but I use the adhesive to make stickers. I use it in scrapbooking/cardmaking all of the time. Love it!

I have a Xyron that I use to laminate things for bulletin boards, that I might want to use again. I don't know if you can find out before you buy, but mine is a model they quit making cartridges for. I have a Xyron 850 (which means it is 8 1/2 inches wide), and right after I bought it, they started making the 900 model (9 inches wide.) I have been able to special order cartridges (laminate, sticker, and magnetic) but the ones they sell in stores are all for the 900 model. It's something you might want to think about before buying. Also, you can get acid free adhesive, but I think the coating that makes a page like plastic, is not acid free.
