After a not so great night’s sleep (think spouses that snore… LOUDLY!) I was up around 6:30. I went for coffee, came back to write out the trip report on yesterday and waited for a phone call from our realtor. We’d be finding out this morning if our offer was accepted.

Just after 9 a.m. he called. What it boiled down to is that our offer would be accepted if we agreed to pay the closing costs of the seller. Our realtor said that the total for the entire closing (both buyer and seller) could run as high as $5000! Ouch. We were paying ½ anyway but I wasn’t thrilled to hear we might have to spend an additional $2500. He stated again that he really wasn’t sure of the exact amount as it varies from company to company. He had contacted the finance company that owned the house to get an estimate from them and would know something by this afternoon. All and all we were very happy with the news. It was nice to know that we wouldn’t be living on the street in a couple of weeks.

Because of my intense dislike for highway driving, we decided to try and find the house again without ever getting on I-4. Right at the beginning of the trip I messed up. I wanted to go on 192 to 27 but I still ended up on I-4. I stayed on I-4 for about 8 miles after leaving the hotel and then got off on to Rte 27.

Another myth bites the dust… Florida people drive slow. I think not! At one point I was going 70 and cars were passing me like I was standing still. What’s up with that?! The topper was we were in a construction zone. *Shudder*

Once we got on 27 I was able to relax. We went down farther south this time and came up through the town of Auburndale. It’s quite pretty but not very big and I didn’t see the grocery store or Wally World so they must be outside the center somewhere.

Then we went to the house. Even with the detour and several stops to check directions, the entire trip was 40 minutes. During our first trip to see the house I only took pictures of the inside. Today I photo’d every part of the front and back yards. There’s a full-grown orange tree in the back. It’s a bit of a mess right now but with some TLC I should have fresh oranges next year at this time for breakfast. Overall the outside area is in good shape. It just needs some work to neaten it up.

When we left there, my DH wanted to see the lake that’s closest to us, Lake Van. The map we were using wasn’t accurate so we didn’t get to see it and by the time we figured out where it was, we needed to get back to the hotel for the realtor’s phone call.

We went home on another alternate route, 559 to 33. Rte 33 takes you through a large area called the Green Swamp. We figured that there’d be lots of water, trees dripping with moss and alligators that would try and bite you on the butt! Umm, wrong! Instead we traveled through maybe 10-15 miles of forest and farmland. It was really lovely and there was no traffic on the road at all. Just as we got into Lake County, we turned right on 474 and finally ended up on 192, the road I wanted to use to travel down to the house on.

I needed a sleeveless shirt. The weather people were saying that Monday it might hit 90, a heat wave even in Florida for this time of year. I had forgotten to pack any of mine. Well right in front of me as we came off 474 was a super Wal-Mart so in I went. Even they had ditched nearly all the summer clothes but after a fairly long look I found one shirt and bought it. Then we went back to the hotel to wait for the call.

The first call was from my son who wanted to know how things were going. He’ll be living with us as will Jen, his girlfriend. Both are big Disney fanatics, which is nice as my DH can take it or leave it.

A short time later the realtor called. Turns out that instead of the total for closing being $5000, it will be more like $3000. That was much better. We’ll get a “Good Faith Estimate” from the finance company tomorrow. If everything seems to be in order, we’ll sign a purchase and sales agreement and put a down payment on the house. He’ll take us to the bank to do a wire transfer.

With much of the worry off of us, I napped for a little over an hour. When I got up I decided to go to the Boardwalk area. It’s one of my favorite Disney places.

Just as I got up to the bus stop, the MGM bus started to pull out. I ran up waving and the driver stopped so I got on. He wanted to know where I was headed so I told him I was going to MGM to transfer to the BW. Well I was the only one on the bus so he said he’d take me there directly. How cool! That is at least the 4th time I’ve gotten a bus all to myself during my Disney trips.

I thanked the driver and entered the BW, went through the lobby and came outside to find a Halloween Disco party in full swing. Lots of folks were dressed up, both children and adults.

I stayed there for a bit to watch the dancing and listen to the music, then I wandered over to the Dolphin to have supper. By now it was after 8 so I thought I’d see if they are still letting people into EPCOT once the fireworks start without making them use their ticket. Along the way I stopped to feed the ducks and fish and just soak in the atmosphere of this beautiful place.

The first person I talked to at the EPCOT gate was a security guy with no personality. I asked if I could go in when the fireworks started and he says, “Do you have a ticket?” I said no because I thought he meant am I willing to use the ticket day for 10 minutes in EPCOT. So he said well you can’t go in and glared at me. No problem. I went right up to the gate and watched from there. Another CM was standing there so I asked her when they changed the policy about going into EPCOT at the end of the day. She also asked me if I had a ticket and I said well, yes but I don’t want to use a day for 5 minutes of fireworks. So she says no you won’t have to. Let security check your bags and then come back here and I’ll let you in. I thanked her and entered the park. I got to see about 2/3’s of the show and watched most of it in front of Canada. It was wonderful as always.

When it ended, I wandered out to the buses with the rest of the crowd. Years ago they use to run the fountain complete with the every 15 minute music show while people were walking out. Then Disney stopped the music and last night the fountain wasn’t even running. BUMMER!

By the time I got back to the hotel it was 9:50. If all goes right we should have a deposit down on the house and tomorrow night and I’ll be off to the MK to see Wishes. I can’t wait! It was lights out at 11 p.m.

High Points – Going back to see the house.
Seeing Illuminations again.

Low Points – Not being able to find Rte. 192 out of Disney.
No fountain at the end of the night in EPCOT.

Weird Points – The Halloween Disco Party.
The green Swamp that didn’t look anything like a swamp.

Best Point – Having our offer accepted on the house!

The house looks & sounds marvelous! With that "pine tree" in the back yard (I peeked at your pictures), you will still get that "New England" feeling......where's the palm trees? :)

I was told by someone on the Dis who lives in FL that the two plants on either side of this photo are Sago Palms.

Very nice home. I hope you and your family will be happy there.

BTW, I am no Floridian but I believe the correct word for the back porch is lanai! I just returned from a trip to Florida so I had to show off my newly acquired vocabulary word!

You are wright the correct word for porch in Florida is lanai(not sure about the spelling).
