Buying a 2nd contract

Hi all,

I currently have 210 points at SSR with an April use year - this was purchased resale.

I would like to purchase a 2nd 100 point contract directly from Disney on our next vacation - this is the bit where I need some help....

To be able to use the 210 plus 100 points at the same time to make a 310 point booking I will need to purchase the same use year - is that possible? To dictate the use year that you want?

Plus how does it work if I have 210 points at SSR then 100 points at a different resort? Does that mean I could only make a 210 booking at 11 months out SSR as the remaining 100 points would be elsewhere and I would then need to add additional nights on using the 100 points at 6 months out - which I wouldn't like doing, I would rather have everything booked in full at 11 months.

I confused - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes. When you buy direct from Disney you can tell them what use year you want.

As long as everything is the same it will be in one DVC account. So yes, Disney direct will give you the same use year if you ask.

If you wanted to book SSR then you would have your 210 points and book 11 months out. Assuming your direct points are another resort, say for example BLT, then those BLT 100 points would only be available for SSR 7 months out, but if you wanted to book BLT 100 points can be used 11 months out.

And the same if you wanted to use your SSR points for BLT, you could book 7 months out.

If you want to book 11 months out at the same resort, ie SSR, then get direct 100 SSR as well to add to your existing 210 SSR points.

That is super helpful and answers everything perfectly! Thanks so much! I think I will be best off trying to get a 100 pt contract from Disney for SSR as I would prefer all our points to be accessible at the 11 month window - how do you make a full booking without enough points at the 11 vs 7 month window if they are at different resorts, or do you just have to make a small booking and then try to amend it to add additional nights on at the 7 months?

People will buy different resorts for different trips. If they don’t have enough, the would borrow to make it happen.

Some will buy two resorts and then alternate each year using banking and borrowing,

Be aware that right now, borrowing has temporarily been changed to allowing only 50% of the contract due to the closure, We don’t know how long that will be in place,

I own a few resorts and bought for that specific reason. I have RIV for times when I will be doing Food and Wine and Flower and Garden.

But own SSR to use at the 7 month mark for many of my other trips. Currently looking to add more BLT,, Poly or VGF for December trips.
