Yesterday I received an advertisement from a Toyota dealership to trade in my lease early for a new lease. My old lease didn't end until August, but I'm doing a mortgage modification and was afraid it would affect my credit, and my ability to buy/lease a car at that time.

Instead of taking the ad to my local Buick dealer where I have my original lease, we went to Toyota. They paid my old lease and put me into a new Camry for 36 months. I put nothing down and my payments are the same. I wanted to buy my Buick at the end of the lease, but due to circumstances (husband lost job) wouldn't be able to.

Well, I miss my Buick Lacrosse and wish I had gone and gotten a new one at the Buick dealership. The Camry just isn't the same.... I even went to the Buick dealership to see if anything could be done, but it's too late. I don't know why I'm posting, maybe just to vent as I'm disappointed in myself for not thinking this through. It's going to be a loooong 36 months!

You haven't even had the car 24 hours yet? I can't believe you hate it that much already.

I know you went to the Buick dealer - did you talk to Toyota? I know my Toyota dealer has a 3 day return policy.

I know when buying a car there is a short window where you can change your mind. I would go to the toyota dealership today and get it undone.

yes...24 hour for contracts, possibly 72...head in today, before the weekend!

GO BACK TODAY! Depending on where you live, you have a minimum of 24 hours to void the transaction. RUN back to the Toyota dealership and undo it while there is time!

Go back to Toyota today! I believe their 3-day return policy is company-wide.

I returned a Toyota car 2 days after I bought it because the color was horrible. It was partially my fault & partially the salesperson's fault. It came from another dealership and I hadn't asked to see it and he didn't show it to me until I signed the paperwork. It looked nothing like what was shown in any of the online or print literature that Toyota puts out. The dealership took it back and put me in one that I loved the color of. The last thing any company wants is someone walking around badmouthing their product for the next 3 years.

I recently bought a new car. I had a Nissan Altima for 10 years. I loved that car. But, when we paid off our van, it was time for me to get a new car. I wanted another Altima, but I also wanted something with better gas mileage (although the mileage on the Altima was good). So I bought a VW Jetta TDI (Diesel) because of the good mileage. Anyway, I still miss my Altima, although not as much now (1 year later) as I did in the beginning. It has taken a little time to get used to the new car, but I am liking it more and more each day. The only thing I haven't gotten used to yet is the fact that my Jetta is not as "zippy" as my Altima. With the Altima, when you pressed the gas you went zoom! With my Jetta, there seems to be a slight delay. I'm told this is due to the diesel engine? I gave the car to my brother, and when I visit him and see the Altima, I sigh a little.

Anyway, my point is that sometimes it takes a little time to get used to something new. Most of us don't really like change all that much.

YOu have 3 days usally to change you mind -I think you would still be able to do something but you have to go to the Toyota dealer tell them you dont like the car

You can't just assume that this is the case - state law varies depending on where you live.

In addition, you need to make sure you didn't sign away your right to rescission when you did the paperwork. Some auto contracts have it buried in there, and by signing you waive your right to return the vehicle.

I would also assume that even if they take the car back, there will be a cost to you to do so. I don't think they can sell the car as "new" anymore once paperwork to transfer the title has been completed, so they may charge something for the de-valuation of the car.

I would get your paperwork out and start reading.

My best friends husband bought a new Toyota truck and decided the next day that he didn't like it so he tried to return it, but in the state of Alabama, there is no three day return policy. I think that's a shame too.

OP go back to the dealership and see what you can do, but do it today. I wish you the best of luck with this.

I remember your topic about it. I'm glad to hear you took it back.

I don't know about NJ, but PA has a 3 day return.

I would go and ask.....it doesn't hurt or cost anything to ask.

If not...you're right...it will be a LONG 3 years :(

I feel your pain. I had a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that was paid for. We rode by the dealership one day and I fell in love with a 2009 Tacoma. But I was on the fence b/c I really didn't want a payment again but this truck was sweet!! Needless to say..its been 2 months since I bought it. Yes I love my truck but I do regret buying it. Those payments are a killer especially since I'm trying to pay down debt and this is really slowing the process down.

Oh well....I have to deal with it.

When did this change? I am from AL originally and worked in the car industry and there was a 3 day right of recission.

Check with the dealership or even Toyota headquarters.

It may be that you can return it, but it may also be that you cannot get your trade back.

BTW, most car leases can be extended by 2 yrs. Our first lease was no money down, super low payments, extra mileage and even cash back because our trade had equity. At the end of the 2 yr lease we were able to extend the lease for 2 more years......same contract, including super low payments, extra mileage, etc. Then at the end of 4 yrs....just turn the van in.

This is how I feel.

They paid off my old lease, so I'd have to pay that in order to rescind. I'll just suck it up. I'll turn it in sooner though, like this time. In less than 2.5 years I'm heading straight to Buick.

Hey Jenn!!! :flower3:

Not sure when it changed but this was about two years ago that this happened. She went in and bought a brand new van, he went in that night to sign the papers & saw this truck. He bought it on the spot, she was beyond mad, he tried to return it the next day and they wouldn't let him.:confused3 They said that it had changed.
