Buyers Remorse when Personal Tragedy Strikes

Crazy update to this. My husband wanted a super specific and somewhat rare hunting dog (pudelpointer) for the next dog. We wanted to wait until the fall at the earliest to get another dog. Unfortunately, we had to start looking into it now because there are waiting lists (some of which are over 2 years long). This morning, he gets a call from one of the breeders he spoke to last week. Long story short, a guy that lives within the state just bred his championship dog for the first time with that breeder's championship dog (we verified all of this), and has a litter of puppies that he is selling. He called up the breeder to see if he knew anyone that was looking before he went to the other breeders out-of-state who have wait lists since we all live in TX. This is his first time to breed this dog, so he didn't do a waiting list. He only has two females left that aren't spoken for, and we want a female. The dog will be ready to go home with us in about 2 weeks after it is 8 weeks old. I went back and forth on it because it seems so sudden and is earlier than we want. However, we are big believers that things happen for a reason, so after A TON of discussion, it looks like we will have a puppy sooner rather than later. God help me!

Texaschick123... believe God has sent this puppy to help your family heal. Great news for this puppy and you !:flower1:

I think so too. Thank you.
Yeah, now if that isn't fate, then I don't know what is. paw:paw:

I know. What a crazy situation to unfold. Now, I just need to get mentally ready for another puppy which is a lot like a baby.

I hope you guys do hunting, otherwise the dog and you will have a miserable life together.
In Germany, where the dogs come from, they are exclusively sold to hunters for a reason.
If so I am so happy for you guys that a new puppy is coming.
I lost my dog too just recently and so I can relate how sad you must feel

I'm so sorry about your dog. It's really terrible to lose a furry member of your family after so long.

My husband is an avid bird hunter. That's why he wanted a bird-dog. They won't sell them to non-hunting families here in the US either. They are afraid that people will try to make them house pets because of their calm temperament.

Then this dog is excellent, my brother has 2. He is a forrest ranger, I really love them.
I still hope you pass your ROFR The time your happy will come back and then you'll be ready for Disney.

I just wanted to update everyone because you were all so kind. We did get the puppy, and she has won our hearts. While I am still sad about my dog and miss her every single day, the new puppy is helping our youngest who took our dog's death really hard as well as the rest of us. She's a lot of work and has a very different personality from my dog that passed, but she is so sweet and gentle with the kids that my husband and I don't regret it at all. My kids still ask questions about our dog that passed, and that makes me so happy to realize that they understand, as best they can, how life works. It is heavy stuff for kids, but we want them to be able to handle it and learn coping skills even at this young age which we think is important. Our new puppy certainly isn't replacing our old dog and came much sooner than expected, but she is a welcome burst of happiness.

Thanks for posting back! Your kids are lucky to have parents who are helping them navigate the tough parts of life. I am glad to hear that the new puppy is adding some smiles to a time that is really rough.
