Buy or rent stroller?

We are taking our 3 year old ds to WDW in feb. Our stroller is a Quinny and we do not use it at home anymore, but it is too big to bring and I would be a bit worried of it getting stolen. I am sure we will need a stroller for ds in WDW, should I rent one there or should I buy a cheap umbrella stroller for the trip? And is there a decent one you would recommend? Thank you.

We bought a Baby Jogger City Mini for our trip to Disney with 3 yr old DD and LOVE it. This is the same stroller used by Orlando Stroller Rentals. I'd recommend renting one from them if you don't want to purchase one that expensive. We were staying more than 8 days and so purchasing was only $100 more (we bought from Amazon and got free shipping). I thought we might use it for our frequent trips to Boston where you need to be able to fold a stroller quickly to get on and off the T. We use it much more than I thought we would and are taking it back for a return Disney trip next week, so we were definitely better off to purchase. It was also nice for us to have it in the airport when changing flights.

If you aren't sure you'll need one elsewhere, I'd suggest renting from Orlando Stroller Rentals. I talked with them several times and they were very helpful. Their prices are much better than renting from Disney and the strollers are comfortable, have a super sunshade, and recline easily. They drop your stroller off at your resort before you arrive and pick it up when you leave.

Our 3 yr old took most of her naps in the stroller while we were there. Even when we went back to the room for a nap she was often keyed up and couldn't sleep but would quickly fall asleep in the stroller when we headed out again with our older kids. The City Mini also maneuvers well in the park. Orlando Stroller Rentals definitely did their homework in picking out a perfect stroller for Disney World.

We decided to buy for our first trip.
(We did not own any strollers, so we had to buy or rent.)

It actually wound up being significantly cheaper for us to buy two new Maclaren Volos on ebay than renting a double for the length of our trip (10 park days). It would have cost us nearly $300 to rent, and we paid under $150 including shipping for the two strollers.

We like the Volos because they fold easily and have a shoulder carrying strap for the busses. They're also easy to maneuver and are able to hold a heavier and taller child than a cheap umbrella stroller.

We have wound up using them for multiple trips, so we more than got our money's worth out of them.

Thank you so much, I think we will rent one, will be about $100 for the time we will need it, including insurance. I doubt that I can find something like this for that price, and no, I do not want to buy another stroller if I dont have to:) I was thinking about buying one of those really cheap ones, but I am sure they are not much fun dragging/ rolling around.

We rented a double from Orlando Stroller for our last trip, and it was wonderful - and the price was reasonable - at least compared to renting from the parks. The stroller was a whole lot nicer than the ones we saw being rented from the parks, we had it for going to & from the parks, DTD, etc. We are going again this year, and we will rent from Orlando Strollers again!

I bought a Maclaren Volo for out last trip in Sept for $100 at toys r us and we loved it! I loved how easy it folded up for the buses and I love that I have it for our next trip in May. The nice thing about them is that they are for up to 55 lbs. My daughter will be 5 this month and is only 37 lbs so I am hoping to get a few more trips out it. Since your daughter is only 3 why not take her to a babies r us and see how you like them. They really are great and wonderful to steer in the parks.

I considered renting for my 2008 WDW trip but decided the rental price would cover purchasing a stroller. I took my niece and didn't have a stroller other than a cheap one that I used in 2007 at DL and she had out grown it.

I tried out the Maclarens and Peg Peregos at a baby store an hour away and decided that the Perego Pliko P3 would work the best for my niece and I. I ordered it through www.albeebaby.com and had it delivered to the resort. The stroller is great and doesn't tip like the Maclaren strollers when bags are placed on the handles.

I know a lot of people like to rent but I paid a bit more to purchase a great stroller and have since used it another 2 times for WDW. It will come again this year. I figured at the time if I wasn't going to use it again I could sell it and make back most of the money I spent on it.

P.S. I have used the cheap stroller again and it's terrible. I can't believe I pushed that around for 5 days at DL-now I know why I was tired.

It's worth getting a decent stroller to push.

I was looking for almost a year for an umbrella stroller that would be comfy for DD & nice for us to push, but I wanted it to be less than $100. I've been pretty spoiled by our Peg P3 but wanted something smaller to take along on trips to the mall & museum. I just couldn't find one that fit everything I wanted....until last month. I bought a Britax Blink on allbeebaby for $75 (it retails for $150). I was skeptical about buying it since I didn't have a chance to try it out, but OH MY!!!!! We took it to the mall last week for a test drive and it realy is a great stroller! I've read some reviews where people have compared it to Macs and even some who said they preferred it to their Macs. It would be cheaper than renting and you could have it for using in the airports too.
