Buy DVC??

Oh, and after you ask the bus driver, you can confirm it with a boat captain on the Friendship Boats.

Well i get the point. Our DVC driver brought it up, which is what put it into our minds. He did say they were talking but resisting. It is the only resort left so hopefully it will not be too long after BLT sells out. I don't want to wait too long. I ain't getting any younger... Mom wants to buy at BLT now because she thinks if bad things happen it would be easier to sell off...but i have always liked poly and wanted to wait. I guess we will see what pans out. Thanks to all who responded to my hijack question...

FYI, there are currently 3 Deluxe resorts without a DVC component. YC, GF and Poly. If DVC agressively approaches them in that order, it may be 15 years before a Poly... I can't figure if the currently real Hawaii resort under construction would make them more or less likely to persue Poly at the same time..

If you are really happy right now with the values, I don't think going full strong in to DVC makes a lot of sense.

One thing to consider is to buy a small contract via the resale market. The investment will be small and allow you a chance to add to your current trips with DVC.

And, as a member, you would be elgibilge for any of the perks that are available. Right now, there is a $100 discount on AP's. Depending on how much you travel to WDW, this could be a good reason to starting small.

Obviously, something about DVC has caused you to consider it and trying out the resorts might be a great way to know.

We bought DVC at BLT, not so much because we wanted to save money, but rather to increase the type of rooms we could book for about the same money we were now spending. Instead of just being in a hotel room, we can now be in a 1 bedroom.

Good luck!

As the purchaser of some of Sandi's VWL points I do agree with her. Make it a small purchase. If you become a real fan of DVC then you can add on. Don't go over your head to make it happen the first time out. You may be sorry and end up taking a loss like others have said.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

If you purchase a small resale, say 50 points, do you typically bank and borrow to use it or do you use the points for a day or two and pay cash for the rest? When you add on do you have two separate contract end dates?

We are very interested but hesitant to purchase 160 points for the next 50 years so a small resale may be the ticket for us.

We are a couple and have 100 BWV points!

However, we were Disney deluxe people before joining.

IMHO, 100 points is more than enough if you plan on staying in studios and in adventure season. We've gone a lot, borrowed a lot, and have transferred some too. Four years into it, we are planning our 5th trip to wdw and our 4th trip to hhi using DVC. Believe it or not...I'm ready to take a break after our next trip, and let our pool of points build back up.

At times, I've really had addonitis. I'm glad we didn't go ahead. Now that the new has worn off, I see that we will probably go back to our every other year schedule, but stay in 1 bedrooms in the future.

The boardwalk view and easy access to DHS and Epcot are phenomenal.

Before purchasing, do consider staying at a moderate and purchasing Annual passes. The moderates have a great feel about them. I love POR! They are more spread out, have marinas, etc. Plus, they have food courts like the values. With the annual pass...you'll see great discounts for rooms without the commitment.
