Airtran is getting ready to start nonstop service to MCO out of our local airport. Their current price is $79 each way. Is this probably the best price I can get for us to fly in mid-Sept, or should I hold out for a better price?

Hi,

Waiting for airfare is like investing in the stock market. Sometimes you look really smart by waiting, and sometimes....well, not so smart. Sometimes prices will go up and sometimes they will come down.

Are you a gambler? My advice is: when you find a price you are comfortable with, book it right away.

I am in Central Illinois and have had airtran for some time. I would say based on your area that is a great price. You might (on rare occasion) see $69.00 but usually if you see it for one way its higher the other.

I wouldn't wait. I waited to book for last September's trip and booked the 2nd week in June and paid almost $300 a person RT. It was much lower a couple weeks prior. I did see a sale or two after that that would have been about $200 a person, but I panicked when I saw the prices increase. I have not seen Airtran go under $69, so $79 each way is a pretty safe bet.
I currently have Airtran out of Indy at $69 myself and I booked that in March.

I would book it...not sure you will get much better!

I just this week booked when the airfare dropped to $119 from $179 - I was very happy but then it dropped to $97 today - GRRRRR!! but I was happy with the 119 price and it was worth the 20 bucks for the peace of mind!!

book it and be happy. it really doesnt get much cheaper than that.

I would go ahead and book it at that rate if you are comfortable with it. I know out of Kansas City we were able to get $59 fares, and on occassion I've seen $49 fares, but those were pretty rare.

I was wondering the same thing for our flight! Right now it is $83 for a one-stop flight on a Sunday. I'm betting I won't see it lower. I booked our return flight from MCO for $74, but that is the lowest I've seen yet and that is a direct flight. I'd say grab the $79 rate you are seeing. I would if it were here in Milwaukee!

I would grab it. If it is a web fare special, those rates go REALLY FAST. I am so glad I listened to the kind people on this board and booked the first leg of the trip when the cheap fare was available. Now it is all gone and the same flight is alot more money!

Book and don't check back! It'll make youhappy to have the trip booked and happier not knowing what could have been!

:thumbsup2

I would book it. Normally $79 is the best price we get out of MKE.
I agree with PP who said book it when you are happy with the price. Yes it stinks if the price goes down, but at least you bought it at a price you felt was fair.

Well, I didn't take everyone's advice, and guess what...I just bought my tickets for only $44 each way!!!:banana::banana: Oh yeah! I'm SO excited! When I asked DH if he thought we should go ahead and buy the tickets at $79, he was hesitant, and, jokingly, told me to hold out for $49. I don't think he thought it would actually happen! Yesterday, it went down to $64, and I almost bought then, but he still wanted me to wait. Tonight, I saw an online article about JetAmerica starting flights to Florida for $9 and up, and then after checking their site ($49--the $9 flights were already gone), I decided to check AirTran, just to see if their price had dropped. TA DA! And, we get to fly from our home town, rather than driving 3 or 4 hours away! Thanks for everyone's advice, anyways! I can always count on my DIS friends for great advice! :goodvibes
