Button - HELP!
My DD (5) came home from Kindergarten with the "Button Case". It was a little suitcase full of books and a box of buttons. We needed to read the four books to her. (Buttons Buttons, The Button Box, Billy's Buttons, and Corduroy). Than go thru and sort the buttons several different ways. Which we did. Now I need to come up with an activity using buttons. For some reason I am hitting a blank wall.

I need help to come up with some cute easy activities for my 5 year old to do with buttons for homework tonight.

Any help??

What is the purpose of the activity? Is it supposed to teach a skill, or can it be just fun? Here are a couple "fun" ideas.

Make an old toy - put a large button on a piece of string. The string should be long enough to tie in a loop that is about 15" across when stretched between your hands. Hold the string in both hands with the button in the middle & twirl it so it twists. Then pull your hands apart as it spins. (Terrible description I think. :( )

Teach her to sew it onto a piece of fabric. If that seems too difficult, you could choose a large button with large holes & sew it onto plastic canvas with yarn. (A yarn needle is blunt, so she won't get stuck.)

Gather a variety of buttons & let her glue them onto construction paper to make a picture.

Play tiddly-winks with some flat ones.

How about Button Bingo?

Instead of numbers on the cards, you could use different colors for each square.
