Butterbeer ?

Is the Universal / Harry Potter drink called "Butterbeer" alcohol? Or is it a type of a beer more like Rootbeer ?

It is non alcoholic and is more like a cream soda with a froth. It comes in slushy form, regular soda form and warm.

While no one should kid themselves into thinking Butterbeer is health food. In terms of snacks, it's not that terrible. The standard 14 oz. Butterbeer contains 200 calories (compared to 560 in a small McDonalds shake). Also, J.K. insisted the beverage be sweetened with real sugar and not high fructose corn syrup or some other modified sweetener.

We didn't like the cold butterbeer nearly as much as we liked the frozen (slushie) butterbeer. Yum yum! And I don't worry too much about calories and junk when I'm on vacation. I'm walking a lot of the extra calories off in the park.

I love butterbeer. To me it tastes most like Butterscotch. I prefer the cold to the frozen, but I'm looking forward to trying the warm butterbeer when we go back next year!

Go to the bar in Hogsmeade (Hog's Head?) for a shorter line if the lines outside are madness.

Not sure where to go for a short line in DA, though the indoors place isn't unpleasant to be in line.

Hot butterbeer is the best, but it's sweeeeeeet and I wish they had a half-portion for me. I do love frozen, though, but the last couple years I can't stop getting brain freezes no matter how careful I am. Crying while at a themepark because of multiple brain freezes isn't fun. Sadness.

if you go instead hogsmeade to the bar area, they honor the ap's for a discount for the butter beer.


carts do not give the discounts.

yes, AP discounts at DA !!
i used my AP for discounts in all the food places which also means the ice cream shop and stores.

We love it. My favorite was the warm followed by the cold. The frozen one was ok but thought it lacked some of the flavor. Didn't think the ice cream had much flavor either.

Our friends got it our first day. One got frozen the other got the regular. She didn't like that one. The next time she tried her daughter's frozen and preferred that one. I really thought the frozen was very refreshing. Didn't try the regular one.
