But why don't they make Beaches and Cream bigger...

I just do not understand since it is relatively popular why they do not make it bigger to accommodate more patrons.. They can still keep the ice cream parlour concept, just make it bigger and keep more people happy. I know they think that they have the outside for those who want to do it as take-out, but it is not the same....

That restaurant could go for a bit of an overhaul....sometimes since it is so small and the castmembers are whizzing around trying to get in between those tiny tables, that it gets congested and messy looking.

C'mon, Disney, give your castmembers a break and make the restaurant bigger so that everyone is not squished while being served by these overworked castmembers and so that you have a little privacy and are not sitting on top of the person beside you... They could take a portion of the arcade or move the arcade to another location...

JMO and inspired by alwayseeyore's post on Beaches and Cream

Aren't there are essential hotel facilities that box Beaches and Cream in? So to enlarge it, they'd really have to move it, and that would perhaps suboptimize it, since its current location is so perfect.

Yes, you are right, but they could relocate that game room.....and find another place for that...I know parents love those arcades but to make Beaches and Cream bigger and accommodate more people, I would be willing to make that sacrifice....;) Also, not sure how close that beauty salon is but I believe that is privately owned, which surprises me a bit, and they are not accommodating in there at all... a little nasty my one and only time I went in, and never went back.

I know at one time (several years ago)the manager at Beaches was all excited about a proposed enlargement--maybe even to where part of Ariel's is now. Of course it never happened and Disney probably makes more $$$ from renting out Ariels for weddings and parties.
But that Arcade could certainly go and it would at least give Beaches a little wiggle room.

The problem with expanding into the arcade is that Disney needs to offset the lost income from the reduced arcade. Since those machines are largely profit (no need for supplies or CM's like a food service place), it might be a high hurdle.

Well, the place was enlarged once, right? It used to be a lot smaller.

Are you sure about this? I've been going there since it opened (early 90's?) and don't recall it being smaller than what it is now. I do recall a few re-habs, but they didn't change the overall size of the place.

They probably would make a lot of money on an enlarged Beaches and Cream if they could accomodate more people. I know we hardly ever go there...and we stay at BCV most of the time. Every time we've attempted to go in...not just get some ice cream to go...it's been not worth the wait.

Make it big enough to accomodate the large numbers of people who want to go there and they'd make a mint.

I agree with you, Jeff. It's the same size as it has always been IMO.

For at least a couple years now, takeout has been limited to ice cream and beverages.

Mackey, that's a shame that you had a bad experience at Periwigs. I go there almost every trip and have had very friendly service.

1) It isn't that busy all the time.
2) At WDW, space has to produce revenue.
3) If only crowded at certain times, it does not warrant enlargement.

I must always hit it when it is busy and truly have not found a time that it is not unless we are talking about early am and I am not about to have a cheeseburger early am.. As far as space and revenue, I do not really care, I just think the place needs a bit of overhauling and make it more comfortable for the patrons....the tables are so teeny you cannot even get your drink and food on them....

I do not think it was enlarged before, it is the size I always remember it being....unless I am mistaken??

I am so glad to hear that someone had a positive experience at that hair salon.....I have never gone back in as the person, and I do think it was the owner, was rather out of sorts that day....I walked in to make an appt, she did not want to take the time with me.. end of story.

Hi Marsha:wave2:

So sorry to hear about your troubles at Beaches and Cream. When we were just at WDW, Mom and I were taking the boat back to the Boardwalk from MGM one day and decided to get off at the Yacht & Beach Club to try Beaches and Cream (heard so much about the Kitchen Sink but with only 2 of us...knew we couldn't do it).....it was late afternoon and not busy at all. We were seated in a booth right away and Mom and I both had a sundae and we shared an order of onion rings (which were soooooooooooooo good). Maybe we just lucked out and arrived at a not busy time.

I always go in the offseason. Usually sometime Oct-early Dec or Jan to mid Mar.

Even though the temp is cooler in the evenings and the parks are usually dead, Beaches and Cream is always at least a short wait when I go there. The arcade on the other hand is empty when we go in there to pass the time while we're waiting.

Beaches & Cream gets a lot more business than Ariels gets private events. I have stayed at the YC/BC on three different occasions and I can recall maybe once when I saw something going on in Ariels. It seems like Ariels butts up right next to Beaches & Cream, if I am remembering it correctly. They could have a wrap around bar there and then have all that extra space for more tables. Maybe one day???

We finally ate at B&C during our July trip and LOVED it. We definitely will be going back, and the wait is worth it. However, we would have experienced this marvelous restaurant ages ago if the wait times were not so long! Many, many times we have stopped by to see if we could get a table. Because there are seldom fewer than 5 in our party, the wait times ALWAYS exceed 45 minutes. Not knowing how enjoyable B&C is, we had always passed on waiting...until July. Now, B&C has joined our short list of "family favorites." I really wish this restaurant would be enlarged. 1st, it would be a much more pleasant experience (especially during the hot summer months when we find ourselves wandering around outside to kill time) due to shorter waits. 2nd, so we don't feel so cramped.
