But what is the room rate on this package?

OK - I understand the savings on the tickets - free hopper and plus options. This is actually great for us, because we were going to buy 10 day premium tickets to use over a few trips. But when you back out the ticket price from the package, what is the room rate? We did the free dining at rack rate - does this work the same? I have been reading, but can't see what people are actually paying for value resorts during this time. Has anyone done the math and be willing to share their room rate? :confused3

It wasn't rack rate for us. Our room rate on our package was about 20% off rack rate. That was for a deluxe. We bought 10 day non-expire passes, so I subtracted that cost (assuming free hopper/water) and divided the balance by the number of nights. I think that's about right - can you tell math isn't my strong point!? ;)

Hi! I'm new to the boards, but have been reading them for a long time! Yea!!
We have gone the week of Martin Luther King Day (Jan.14-21) for the last 5 years and have always used a room only code. This new 2006 MYW Package is certainly throwing me for a loop! We already have tickets left over from our last year's 10 day passes, so a room only code would really be ideal for us. But, if this is the only deal going then I guess we'll have to use it.

I also would like to know if others are willing to back out their passes from their packages and share what the room rate is.

Thanks everyone!!!

Now that you can quote the package online, it's pretty easy to do this for yourself.

AHHHHH!! Thank you! I went to Disney's website and got all the info I needed!! Thanks for the suggestion!
:cheer2:

There are two ways to look at it. I'm not sure exactly which of the two you're asking, but after goofing around on the internet today with various combos, here's what I've figured out.

The savings on the MYW tickets is $80 (plus tax) per ticket. So, obviously, the more tickets you buy, the more you save (but the more you pay). The ADDITIONAL savings above the $80 per ticket appears to me to be 10 percent off rack virtually across the board at all the resorts.

If you're asking, assuming full price for the tickets, what the room savings are, it turns out to be between 10 and 30 percent, depending on the length of stay and the number of tickets.

For example, 7 nights at the Poly GV under the new package, with 4 10-day passes turns out to be a savings of about $545 (pre tax to make it easier) over what you would pay if you were purchasing the passes at full value and paying rack rate for the room. There are two ways of looking at this: (1) You can attribute the entire savings to the cost of the room, in which case you're saving a whopping 24.7 percent off the room rate, or (2) you can attribute $320 of the savings to the 4 passes and $215 of the savings to the room, in which case it drops back closer to 10 percent.

It's all how you look at it (and how many passes you would otherwise purchase). Does that make sense?

When I called the CM told me the room would be rack rate and I'd be giving up my AAA 10% room only discount. So I didn't do it. I think I will go price it out on the website to be sure.

You mean the CM told you it would be rack rate with the package? I don't think our's was. I originally had a AAA rate, and with the package, I think my room rate (when you separated it all out) about the same as it was w/. a AAA discount (about 15% for deluxe). We're definitely not paying rack rate with our package.

Yup, that's what she said. She said I would be getting free hopping and plus features but would have to give up my AAA room only discount. I said "is there a discount on the room in this pkg special?" and she said "no, you will be paying rack rate".

I wondered if it was because it was a deluxe during peak season? We are going Feb. 27-March 6. When are you going???

Maybe I should call again? :confused3 I checked the WDW website but they only seem to list the pkg. specials with value resorts.

Not sure how many people or what type of room you're looking for, but I plugged in some info online and it looks like about $404 a night, tax included. So about 10% off rack rate, I think? Does that sound right?

Thank you. Right now I am paying $415 per night taxes included with my AAA discount. Do you think the online quotes include taxes? I didn't really see anything specific about that. If they are included then $404 is saving another $10 per night.

Yeah it was tax included. Can you not find the link to the package special? If you tell me what kind of tickets you want and for how many people, I can find out the price for you.
