OK - I understand the savings on the tickets - free hopper and plus options. This is actually great for us, because we were going to buy 10 day premium tickets to use over a few trips. But when you back out the ticket price from the package, what is the room rate? We did the free dining at rack rate - does this work the same? I have been reading, but can't see what people are actually paying for value resorts during this time. Has anyone done the math and be willing to share their room rate?
There are two ways to look at it. I'm not sure exactly which of the two you're asking, but after goofing around on the internet today with various combos, here's what I've figured out.
The savings on the MYW tickets is $80 (plus tax) per ticket. So, obviously, the more tickets you buy, the more you save (but the more you pay). The ADDITIONAL savings above the $80 per ticket appears to me to be 10 percent off rack virtually across the board at all the resorts.
If you're asking, assuming full price for the tickets, what the room savings are, it turns out to be between 10 and 30 percent, depending on the length of stay and the number of tickets.
For example, 7 nights at the Poly GV under the new package, with 4 10-day passes turns out to be a savings of about $545 (pre tax to make it easier) over what you would pay if you were purchasing the passes at full value and paying rack rate for the room. There are two ways of looking at this: (1) You can attribute the entire savings to the cost of the room, in which case you're saving a whopping 24.7 percent off the room rate, or (2) you can attribute $320 of the savings to the 4 passes and $215 of the savings to the room, in which case it drops back closer to 10 percent.
It's all how you look at it (and how many passes you would otherwise purchase). Does that make sense?
