"But Mom, I want to come back to WDW!"

Just wanted you to know I found it and will be reading it shortly.

See I am the same all over.

I see that! :)

Since your next segment is taking so long for you to post, I've decided to just write it for you:

So after a good rest, we head back to MK for the evening where we decide to eat nothing but Ice Cream Mickey Bars and let the girls run free to capture iguanas and snakes and such.

JoJo’s former training at C.I.R.H (The Canadian Institute of Reptile Hunting) allows her to track and capture an American Alligator gliding thru the water surrounding Tom Sawyer Island….......

:wave2:

Come one blue! We can’t wait forever!! j/k

This post just cracked me up! I read it to my DH and DD's before dinner tonight and they loved it. Made me wish that you and Linnie were still writing.

Now how can I compete with what you wrote...it's far more interesting, not to mention funnier than my next chapter. I'm feeling a bit insecure now :sad2:

I do have it finished and will be posting it later this evening...much later ... because I have to resize my pics and upload them. I also have to send off a PM to Linnie - please let her know I haven't forgotten her.

Thanks for making my day Buzz :wave2:

Day 2 – Part 7

Prince Grumpy and I decided we’d like to take a late afternoon nap since the girls were interested in tracking down some more lizards. We promised to meet them by the pool in an hour and we both slept like babies. I think we may have slept longer if they hadn’t messaged us on our radio for our wake up call. Feeling refreshed, we leisurely made our way to the pool area and DH bought himself a beer. He mentioned that he’d like to buy one of those tall beer glasses but wasn’t sure it would make it home in one piece.

Goofy showed us the new tattoo she got and told us about her newest adventures of being bitten by a lizard. JoJo told her to put both hands over one and slide it towards herself and as she did so, she said it bit her. Did that stop them? No. I guess they don’t bite hard enough! Haha. The girls and I played around in the pool while DH relaxed. The water was a delightful temperature, warm but not so warm to be unpleasant. The girls found it much more comfortable than our chilly Canadian water.

Goofy: "Don't worry mom, it isn't real!"

Around 7:30, we headed back to mouseland. Remember I mentioned that we were jinxed with the card readers? On our way through, mine would not work, I kept putting it through and the CM kept giving it back to try again. After what seemed like 20 tries, he gave up and took my card and told me to wait while he went to get me a temporary pass. I’m not sure what caused the problem, but I did have it in my pouch alongside the magnetic Disney star pin the girls received from the castle. Anyhow, it meant we’d have to stand in line the next day, at the resort, and wait to be issued a new one.

1125322-59.jpg

Girls: "Why does Dad keep making us pose for pictures??"

1125322-60.jpg

Prince Grumpy: "I can do it! Just give me a few more minutes...."

The first thing I wanted to see was Mickey’s Philharmagic. This was our first 3D show and it was utterly amazing. The auditorium was gorgeous, the magic - real, the movies and music and smell of the apple pie, being sprayed with water – all of it – was so powerfully emotional. You can’t help but applaud the producers of this sensory experience.

1125322-61.jpg

Who are these nerdy people?

Next we took a ride on It’s a Small World. This ride through a wonderland of scenes brought back happy family memories from my childhood. Seeing the dancing dolls, dressed in their native clothing, made me think of my own family culture and background. Just writing this piece has got the song stuck in my head!

1125322-62.jpg

Prince Grumpy: "Hey...I'm seeing pink elephants!!!! Must have been that beer back at bar :confused3 "

We decided to have our dinner at Pinocchio’s Village Haus, where we finally found out who the characters “Gideon “ and “ Foulfellow“ were from (pics on page 3 of TR). The meal was great but the temperature in that place! We were freezing. I found it cold in almost all of the restaurants at WDW. I’ll know next time to bring along a sweater for meals.

1125322-63.jpg

JoJo: "Do you have to embarrass us in here? Enough already!"

After supper we went on The Mad Tea Party. Even in the darkness, we could see that this was such a colourful ride. Spinning and full bellies don’t mix. I recall DH asking whose idea it was to go on that ride right after eating. I looked away innocently and started whistling. :rolleyes1 Changing the subject as quickly as I could, I motioned them to follow me to find a spot for the parade.

1125322-72.jpg

This should be fun...I just ate 3 slices of pizza

1125322-64.jpg

This area was roped off for the parade and Prince Grumpy got in BIG trouble from a CM for going to take it.

1125322-65.jpg

1125322-66.jpg

Our so-called spot consisted of a space of about 2’ x 2’ behind 2 rows of adults. If the floats were not built as tall as they are, I wouldn’t have seen a thing. That’s one of the downsides to being short. For the most part, I held my camera up as high as I could to capture it on video, poking my head through the crowd every now and then to have a better look. I placed Goofy in front of me as I didn’t want her to miss out but JoJo had no desire to be squished amongst strangers and the close proximity was causing her to have one of her fainting attacks. DH asked her if she wanted to go wait somewhere else until it was over but she bravely declined and stood a bit back from us. I felt sorry for a small boy of about 6 or 7 years old, who tried hopelessly to get a spot up front. The parents around us were having no part of it. They wouldn’t let him through, and I heard a mother yell at him to stop budding. His father pushed him forward and told him to go ahead through. Poor little child.

Day 2 – Part 7 - continued from post #105 pg. 6

I would have loved to stay and watch the fireworks, but both DD’s wanted to get away from the mob of people. We went to the Indy Speedway and I managed to catch the fireworks while standing in line. JoJo and I slipped into a different line (one that was moving faster) and were able to ride ahead of DH and Goofy. As we crawled around the track, I kept turning back to see the fireworks while JoJo kept screaming for me to go faster and steer. I laughed and told her that it only had one speed and that was SLOW. The two of us finished and waited up top to watch Goofy and Prince Grumpy and managed to get a blurry picture.

1125322-74.jpg

Prince Grumpy: "I should have went for the Richard Petty Driving Experience"

1125322-73.jpg

A shot while waiting in line

Goofy was keen on going to Space Mountain and since I’m the only other thrill seeker in the family, I volunteered to go on with her. There was no wait for this ride but it took forever to get on. It felt like we walked for over 20 minutes just getting to the front. When we finished she asked if we could go on again but when I saw my poor DH and JoJo lying on the bench, shoes off, almost asleep, I told her we better get moving before they decided to go back to the resort.

*sorry no pics here* :teeth:

While DH and JoJo drug their butts behind Goofy and I, we lead them to Stitch’s Great Escape. Here we found a very rude father, who was swearing at his wife and son about the wait and the loud people around us. This was an indication that we should return to our resort soon because people seemed to be getting irritated with each other and it just wasn’t feeling so magical anymore. Goofy loved this attraction – but she loves everything about Stitch. I didn’t like the part where Stitch was running through the audience because the bar holding us in pushed very hard on our shoulders and it hurt!

1125322-75.jpg

Goofy: "No mom, I'm not kissing him!"

1125322-76.jpg

Can't you just hear his wicked little laugh??? :stitch:

It was close to midnight by this point and we thought we’d leave the park for the day but Goofy’s heartfelt request to go to Pooh’s Playful Spot quickly won me over. She stood in line for his signature and I stood beside her to get one for JoJo. We took a few pictures and headed back to ASMo.

1125322-77.jpg

We cut mom out of this pic cause she had big bags under her eyes :teeth:

1125322-78.jpg

Last pic....can we leave now??

The bus was packed and we had to stand the entire way – which was about 20 minutes. My back, feet and legs were hurting terribly; I kept switching from foot to foot while standing, trying to get some relief. A rental car would have been great for nights like this. Once we settled in, downloaded our pics, our heads hit the pillows and while the others slept, I laid there thinking how Disney World has become, like it has for many people, my passion.

Coming Up – Day 3 – Part 1 – MGM Memories

GREAT installment! :goodvibes

I could relate to you about the parade and the little boy. When people won't let little kids see the parades that just really gets me going. I know the adults waited for the parade and staked out a good spot far in advance but it's not like a 6 year old is really going to obscure your view. I just hate it when that happens.

It definitely sounds like you guys are hooked, I bet we'll be seeing more trip reports from you in the near future!!

We have the exact same picture of me trying to pull the sword from the stone. What is it with guys and their passion for swords?

It seems like we always have a pass that doesn't work either. This was the first year all of our passes worked for the entire trip. In the past, we always had to get one replaced.

I'm happy to read about another convert to the Dinsey World Passion list. I am already going to bed every night thinking of the next trip and how to improve it.

Great post. Keep 'em comin'!!! :thumbsup2

Same here! There are many things we'll do differently next time but that doesn't mean I'd change a thing from our first trip - if I could.

My only regret is not going when my DDs were younger.

Blue, don't you know, you never tell anyone unfamiliar with Florida that it's going to be hurricane season while they are there. :rotfl2:

Listen, I myself was unfamiliar with Florida and hurricane season!

I was kind of nervous too - but I didn't let them know that!!!!

Ernesto hit while we were there (day 5) and the girls wouldn't leave our room that morning (you'll have to wait to hear about it). I was thankful it only turned out to be rain.

great report Blue!! :thumbsup2

I am like yourself and was the same way while planning our families first trip to the world in 2004. :surfweb: When I told DH and DS that we would be there in hurricane season because it was cheaper they had the same response as your families :rotfl:
We however were locked in our room for 30 hours while hurricane Jean ripped through DIsney :confused3
It was still worth it and I would do it again in a second :cheer2:

Keep up the great report cant wait to hear more :yay:

Blue! No regrets! You cannot change the past. Live in the now! Make up for it by going when you can from now on. There will be lots of memories to build on plus you can lay the groundwork for your children to take your grandchildren.

I turn 40 in 43 days so I'm all passionate about growing old now. :confused3 The Pooh thinks I'm nutz

Thank you so much for a great TR! I have to share a memory from my DD's 15th year... for a lovely 2 years we lived on the island of Guam. Tropical weather all year long! I loved it and we were always at the beach or a beautiful resort pool. My DD was in the jeans phase! Oh my, everywhere... beach, pool, BBQ she would be wearing blue jeans! I thought she would pass out in the 90 degree + 100% humidity climate. My favorite memory is taking a video at a pool when she did not know I was around. She was with her younger sister watching her swim, well DD jumped in, jeans and all and they had a ball splashing around and playing Marco Polo together! Of course, it would have never happened if she saw me because she needed to look cool and not make Mommy happy. I still laugh thinking about that day! Teenagers!! In 60 days I take her to Disney for a 21st birthday Mom and Daughter trip. Do you think she will swim in jeans?

Where were you staying and what did you all do for 30 hours? That's a long time. We would have went stir crazy in our small room. Well I would have, I'm sure the girls would have enjoyed a day of just watching movies.

Obviously you felt safe though if you said it was worth it and would do it again in a second.

Have you been back since your first trip? I'd be interested in hearing what you would do differently this time.

Thanks for reading :goodvibes

That's so true about not changing the past. Very good advice indeed :)

Wow - the BIG 4 0 - now that's definately something to celebrate :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Will you be having a partaaaay? party:

The Pooh probably has good reason to think you are nutz and I'm sure there is more to that story :teeth: and you're just not telling it all *grins*

Nothing wrong with being passionate about growing old - except 40 isn't OLD!!!

I remember when I used to think it was...but now that I'm so close myself - it isn't old at all ;)

On another note, are the kids getting excited about Santa? :santa: Have they started making lists?

Thank you so much for sharing your memory from your DD's 15th year! I don't feel so alone anymore :lmao:

How lucky for you to have lived in tropical weather all year long.

I can't believe she jumped in the pool with jeans on. That would be so uncomfortable :rotfl:

It's all about being cool during the teen years :cool1:

I hope she realizes what a super duper mom she has for taking her to Disney for her 21st birthday!!!!!! :dance3: and I'm pretty sure she won't swim in jeans :teeth:

Is the younger DD going also?

Great report!! I'm so glad your DD wants to go back!! Although my 2 DSs love disney, I brought my DF and her 2 teenage DSs with us this year. They had never been and I was so worried that they would think some of the rides were cheesy. Like JC. But they LOVED it! And they are trying to talk their DM into returning next year. I think it helped that we had already been to DW a few times to show them where to go and what to do.

I think the first time you go to WDW it's so important to know as much as you can about it so you don't stand there at the entrance to MK with that
"I'm so overwhelmed!" look on your face. I've heard some horror stories from people at work about how they stood in line for 3 hours for SpcM and that was the only ride they were able to go on because they only had 1 day in the park. It makes me so sad. They never got to really see MK for what it is. A fun place to explore and enjoy!!

Thanks for sharing you trip with us! Can't wait for the rest!!

Thank you Blaynexox! I noticed you posted in my DD's TR (sweet of you) - I am not sure she is going to finish it because she finds it too time consuming. She'd rather spend her free time out with friends and I can't blame her but I sure hope she continues.

I agree with you about it being important to know as much as you can before going to WDW. Getting know everything I could and reading so much was a great part of my experience and I'm still learning & finding out new stuff!

I'm far from being an expert on all things Disney and appreciate reading pointers from other people's tr's. I just wish I had time to read them all!!!! :)

Thanks for posting - I hope to have another installment up tomorrow.
