I'm not currently a "pin-trader" and really know next to nothing about the whole thing. I and the other person in my party will more than likely be wearing one (possibly more) Disney pin(s) during our vacation, and I was wondering how best to do so without having people think we're wanting to trade them. I don't know what the pin-trading "etiquette" is on this (if there is any)?

Thanks! :)

From what I have seen for myself, if I wear a pin on my lanyard people ask me if it is for trade. When I have a particular pin that I like and I wear it on my shirt no one asks to trade it. They might say they like it but won't press you to trade.
When I go to WDW for events I wear two lanyards, one has the pins I am trading and the other has some of my special pins that I want to show off a little, mostly all my name pins that I have collected over the years. When I am approached by someone who wants to trade I always tell them that the AP lanyard is not for trade but they are welcome to look at the other lanyard.
Don't feel that you have to trade just because you wear a lanyard. You have the right to refuse any trade. Peggie

Thanks so much for your helpful reply, Mickey527. :) We will only be wearing them directly pinned on a shirt and/or hat, and it will only be one or two, so it seems I need not worry that people will press me to trade them (they are vintage pins I've purchased for a special occasion, and I most definitely will want to keep them :)).

If I may ask, what exactly IS a "lanyard?" I've gathered it's some sort of thing you wear (around your neck?) that you can pin your pins to to display? I'm imagining perhaps it's a "suspenders-looking" thing, yes/no? Anyone have a link that shows what a lanyard looks like? (As I said, I really don't know anything 'bout pin-trading.)

Thanks again,
