Busy week in December?

I am planning out first ever trip to WDW for Dec 8 - 13. DH can't go the previous week because he'll be deer hunting. Since the season lasts through the 7th and we'd have a 3-4 hour trip to get to the airport I am wondering if I should just move our trip to the following week, which would be the 14th - the 20th (13th - 19th to avoid peak season charges).

Is it much more busy that last week before Christmas than it would be the previous week? I do worry that the kids would miss their Christmas concerts if we move it to that week though. Maybe I should just push it off to late January.

We went last year on the 5th throught the 13th, a Wednesday through Thursday. The parks were crazy crowded on Friday through Sunday. I've never seen them like that. You could not walk from Main Street to Fantasy Land or Tomorrowland at all for about 2 hours before the parade. We were stuck! I think that the last week before Christmas is still pretty crowded, as people pull their kids out of school the week before Christmas more than ever.

Ewww....that's not what I wanted to hear. We'd be arriving on Monday and leaving on Saturday so it sounds like we'd miss the worst of it if we keep out plans the way they are. Otherwise I'll consider Jan or Feb of next year instead.

We're going Dec. 4 -13. I'd say the earlier the better. The crowds get heavier the closer it gets to Christmas. I'm a big believer in the park hopper option. It not unusual to walk into the MK and find it packed and then head over to Epcot or another park and find it almost empty.

Don't stress over it. No matter what you'll be in "the happiest place on earth". Go and have a magical time.

This used to be a fairly "light" week, crowd-wise. As the years roll by, crowds
seem to get heavier and heavier. It's still less crowded and a wonderful time
to go. Enjoy!
