We've planned a mini trip for the 24th-26th, being just the weekend, I am expecting normal weekend numbers, I'm guessing a 7/10?

While planning, I've been told that some So Cal schools have that entire week off for presidents week (the 20th-24th), but that shouldn't affect your trip. There might be some higher numbers leading into the One More Day event in the park on the 29th, but based on this board, doesn't seem like many of us are planning to go out of our way to attend the festivities. I actually purposely avoided it in case there was a huge attendance based on the publicity.

For weather, I can't help, I am not local :)

On a related note, I noticed that Toruing Plans' Crowd Calendar predicts larger crowds for the first weekend in February (Fri. Feb. 3-Mon. Feb. 6) than the few weekends before and after that time, especially at DCA. Does anyone know why? Is there something going on that will bring more people out?

It's called the weekend.

No, no. I mean that weekend in particular, including Mon. and Fri. is predicted by Toruing Plans Crowd Calendar to be busier than any other weekend preceeding or following it, especially at DCA. All I can find is that there is a convention of Baseball Coaches going on at the Anheim Convention Center. Could this be the reason?

TP is not a great crowd predictor. It's probably that they are basing it off data from a years ago. It's could be because that weekend is Dapper Days, a minor unofficial event. I ultimately think TP is wrong. This appears to be another reason not to use it at DLR.

Feb 5 Superbowl weekend we went last yr and it was crazy busy sun was the worst

Thank you skiingfast and bluegrizzlies1 for the responses. I considered (and was hoping) that Toruing Plans might be wrong. I hadn't thought about it being Superbowl weekend, but I wonder why that affects crowds at DL and DCA. Wouldn't fans be home watching the Superbowl? I'm not a football fan, so maybe I'm missing something. The Superbowl phenomenon is kind of off my radar. I just hope the crowds aren't too bad because I thought it was going to be a slow time until I discovered Touring Plans Crowd Calendar.

From anecdotal reports it seems as though it is a popular time for those not interested in football and their children to go to Disneyland. I am guessing to escape the house. :rotfl: As someone who has pretty much zero interest in sports, I could see how that could happen. :lmao:

I'm an NFL freak and thought eh everyone will be home watching superbowl.

Found out tons of people could care less about it.

Sunday was like a busy day in July I'm not kidding if youdidnt collect fp you were waiting in long lines.

35 min wait for small world that day. Seen a lot of guys checking the superbowl on there phones including me lol.

Note to self never go on that weekend again :)

Oh man, now I'm freaking out. I picked that weekend cuz I thought everyone would be watching the Superbowl and Sunday would be dead. And I don't know why the Superbowl would affect the rest of the weekend. Was Friday and Saturday super busy too? I hope not, but I'm stuck now. We are staying til Wednesday, so hopefully Mon, Tues and Weds will not be too crowded. Although DL closes at 6 Tues, not sure why or if that will affect crowds.

I think that is the Superbowl Effect. People expect low crowds but find it still has weekend crowds. There are thousands of posts like that.

It's just a weekend, not extra crowds, just a bunch of people shocked that the park isn't empty. Then they all report the place is packed, because it didn't meet thier expectation.

We are going the same weekend. Dh wants to do Universal for 1 day, perhaps we will do that on Sunday instead of Disney. Can't stand it at Disneyland when it's too crowded--it's not fun. :headache:

If it is just a regular weekend crowd, I'm good. But if its extra crowded cuz more people than normal go cuz they think it will be empty, then thats no bueno.

I certainly dont trust Touring plans crowd estimates. Not for DL or DW. I have been to DW many times, and know how crowds compare, and I have found touring plans to be off more than on. I know they try hard, I'm just not sure you can predict people.

So on that note, I guess I should not worry about Superbowl weekend and just go and have fun. I know how to collect my FPs and which rides are less crowded during the crowded part of the day and I have my mousewait phone app, so I'm good to go. :cool1:

Why worry what you can't control. We will have an awesome time no matter!! :woohoo:
