Bussing issue with DS

Am I the only one who finds it a bit surprising that so many of the responses are placing all of the responsibility here on the school?

They are already providing additional help after school as well as a late bus. Any late bus program has to have limited stops, otherwise the route could take hours.

I honestly don't think it's too much to ask the parent to come up with their own solution if what the school is providing is not acceptable to them.

OP, any friends or neighbors close by who would be willing to give your son a ride home from the bus stop, or is there any way your could tweak your work schedule a bit? If it were an every day thing I could see it being a bigger problem, but for once a week I would think you should be able to work something out. I hope you are able to get your son back in the after school program to get him the extra help he needs. Good Luck!

No. That surprised me too.

Good luck, OP. Hope you can figure something out.

If you mean she could drive him herself, the OP said she works and cannot pick him up. If you mean that she could try to get the program materials and work with her son at home, I agree.

Gee there are plenty of other options for her to keep him in the class, many have been posted on this thread and the OP said she is looking into them. She also said in her first post that she understands the importance of this extra help in reading for her 13 year old.
It sounds like the OP is going to find a solution other than pulling her kid out of the class until the spring! :thumbsup2
