Busses to event question 4am last call?

This will be my first year staying on site. Being not fond of getting up earlier then I have to, last year I didn't leave my house until a little after 4.

Do the buses keep running past 4am or do you really need to get on that one?

My first year I did the get there real early thing and sat around so much I opted for the extra hour of sleep last year and getting there at 5 worked out real well.

I'm not sure - when I did it 2 years ago and stayed at AKL, I got on at around 3:45. THe bus was full. However, why risk it?? I know they do stop the buses due to road closures in preparation for the race, so it might depend on where you're staying (i.e., if the bus has to go on the course route or not).
